Contractor Appreciation Post!
As a family who moved from suburbian Sydney to a 10acre lifestyle block in New Zealand, adapting to the demands of the land was no easy task.
However Mike and Miranda from MJ Cable Ag have been there from the start to hold our hand and make sure our land stays happy and healthy.
Everything from new fencing, paddock resting, fertilising, w**d spraying and hay cutting and baling.

What a fantastic way to wrap up the term with our JRA Show Cross Day! 🤍
Our riders took on a dressage test followed by a show cross round, combining showjumping and modified cross country fences - and absolutely rose to the occasion.

Results:
🥇1st - Ruby on Jordy
🥈 Equal 2nd - Katherine on Blue (Kindly loaned from Nicole) & Quinn on Lockie
🥉 3rd - Izzy on Roman

So many smiles, so much fun, and such awesome progress from every rider. We’re so proud of you all!

Nicole was having so much fun she forgot to take any photos, Thankyou to all the parents who shared their great shots!

OFFICIAL UPDATE

We regret to inform you that the Maris Equestrian gold mining project has fallen through…

Due to a complete lack of cooperation from our horses.

Despite several negotiations, they have made it clear they will not:
Operate heavy machinery
Wear hi-vis
Work without snacks every 2 hours

As a result, the arena will remain intact and lessons will continue as normal.

We apologise to anyone who had already mentally retired off their share of the gold profits. Or pulled out their shovels for some sneaky digging overnight! 🪏

🐴 A DARK DAY FOR MARIS EQUESTRIAN 😢

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the end of an era.

During routine arena maintenance earlier this week, our team made a discovery no one saw coming…

A rich, glittering vein of gold - running directly beneath our arena.

What was once a place for lessons, laughter, and countless rider milestones… will now become Canterbury’s newest gold mining operation.

After careful consideration (and what we can only assume was a very convincing offer), Nicole has agreed to partner with an international investor to begin immediate excavation.

Our school horses have been informed and are understandably:
• Confused
• Slightly offended
• Mostly concerned about their hay supply

The arena will soon be replaced with a state-of-the-art open pit mine.
The mounting block will remain… as a viewing platform for premium ticket holders.

We want to thank every rider, parent, and client who has been part of Maris over the years. The memories we’ve made here are truly priceless…

…but apparently not quite as valuable as what’s underneath it.

Rest in peace, Maris Equestrian.
