Thursday 19th we made it to Taupo. The opening ceremony with the ball drop with NZDF helicopter was great. But at the end we got rained out.

We made the big trip today to Taupo. We got here safely and had lunch at Taupo Domain Park grounds before going to the Owen Dalyn Park opening ceremony and ball drop done by the NZDF team.

It's official our U10 Kowhai team and U11 team from Te Kauwhata Juniors Rugby Club taking part in Taupo this weekend.

Te Kauwhata Junior Rugby Club was initially started around 1954. We were playing under the Lower Waikato region back then, and are now we're under Counties Manukau.

Introducing the 2024 Te Kauwhata 10th Grade Kowhai team!

As a small rural club we are lucky enough to have two teams in the U10 grade.

A lot of the tamariki have been in the kowhai team for several years and have come up through the grades from Rippa. With some new players joining us and great friendships being forged this season.

They have worked hard this season and have come together to support each other and give confidence to those players who are joining us for their first year of rugby.

We have two coaches this year; Conrad and Becky who have both played rugby within Te Kauwhata and Waikato for a few years, now turning their focus to the next generation of players.

Not Taupo related but so proud of the awesome training session experience some of our team players had last weekend at our Te Kauwhata Junior Rugby Club with our visitors from Persil and The Hits and two well known NZ Rugby players.
