One of our members had to use Krav Maga outside the gym when a group targeted his daughters at McDonald’s. By staying calm, using his voice, and applying tactics, he guided everyone to safety without throwing a punch.
This is what Krav Maga is about - protecting your loved ones in real life. We’re proud and glad to see the skills we teach making a real difference when it matters most.
Now please read his story below:
“Didn’t think I’d ever have to put my Krav Maga training to the test at a McDonald’s … but Monday night proved me wrong.
I was with my daughters and their German friend at a McDonald’s near the airport when four teenage girls came in blaring loud music. They accused the German friend of ‘staring’ and tried to bait them inside the restaurant. Then, as soon as we stepped out, they came at my girls - punches, hair pulling, the works.
I had to step in. But here’s the thing: I didn’t throw a single strike. Instead, all the tactical training from Krav Maga kicked in.
• Creating space and keeping distance.
• Using my voice loudly and clearly — “Stay away!” “We want NO trouble!” — so bystanders knew exactly what was happening.
• Lining up the attackers so they couldn’t surround us.
• Positioning myself to protect my daughters and their friend while guiding them to safety.
At one point I had to hold the restaurant door shut just to stop them from chasing us further. We eventually made it to the car. The gang filmed our number plate as we drove off, but we got away unharmed.
What struck me most was how brazen they were - no fear, no hesitation, even with cameras and diners watching. And the Police later confirmed: these incidents are on the rise, fueled by social media, and often carried out by minors who face little consequence.
This is why I’m sharing. Because in that moment, what kept us safe wasn’t muscle or aggression - it was mindset. The tactical awareness and de-escalation skills Bertrand and Stu drill us in training.
Krav Maga is about knowing what to do when trouble comes, so you can protect yourself and your loved ones without escalating further.
Stay safe out there 🙌”
