Whakatane Athletic & Harrier Club have invited us to join them this Saturday 12th Sept (arrive around 1pm for 1.30pm start) for a cross country run at 479 Herepuru Rd, Matata.

This year they have a flying 4k downhill...hold that thought...complete with great views if it's fine. You won't be able to see 50m if it's not! Possibly cowsh*t, so don't wear the fancy white shoes, possibly mud if there is rain during the week and more hills...what goes down must come back up!

There is a distance for everyone and a more sedate 4k option for those who are not mountain goats. Whakatane invite you to "bring your sense of adventure and have some fun!"
Last year they had distances of 4, 6, 8.5 and 10.5km and can rustle up a course of say 1.5-2km for the kids as needed.

George Wyllie has kicked off his XC season for Eastern Kentucky University with an 8th place 16:51.0 at the EKU Invitational in Richmond, KY, over 5km on 4th September.

Hamish Murray, also EKU, placed 3rd in 15:52.0.

Robyn Winter:
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of long-time club member Robyn Winter: 17/11/1949-03/09/2026
To honor Robyn’s memory, a get-together will be held on Monday, September 14th at 11:00am at the Tauranga Sports Rugby Clubrooms (Tauranga Domain).
