Last summer was a bit of a letdown for motorcyclists, and in particular for us, the incessant rain kept our touring bike Rego on hold for yet another year.
The weather experts predict El Niño conditions on the way, where our region of the world typically experience drought, could mean an excellent riding summer season coming up!
So for the next few weekends it time to get the maintenance up to scratch. Thankfully our ride is belt drive so no chain to l**e, but the belt will need a thorough check for wear. With the bike sitting so long unused we will flush the fuel tank and the engine, change the oil, check the brakes and clean the spark plug. The air filters will get cleaned too. This is where the Motul range really excels.
Then of course the tires will need a good inspection for wear and pressure checked. The indicators and lights need to be in perfect working order and lens are clean. For the last of the prep, we’ll give the old girl’s fairings & frame a good cleanup, again the Motul range has all we need.
Finally, off to get a WOF and renew the registration.
Next is to plan the roads we desire to tour this summer. For this we will dust of the Hema Maps New Zealand Motorcyclists Atlas, we aim to tick some more routes.
So now the time is right to give your bike the attention it needs to give you safe travels this summer, enjoy the journey.
