To lean up you must be in a calorie deficit (which is basically burning more cals than what you eat week to week)
Obviously the most common way to get into a calorie deficit is to reduce calories.
What if your calories are already low?
Or what if you want to eat more and keep leaning up? Or maintain a healthy bodyweight and still be able to “enjoy yourself”?
Get into a deeper deficit by increasing your energy output. AKA move more. Move with more intention. 💪🏽
Here’s 6 ways you can do this (ON TOP of good nutrition - this is number 1 for building a solid physique)
Note: This is assuming someone is already weight training. If you’re not then that could be your first step.
1) Add cardio post workout. Get through your weights session then add a bit of cardio at the end. Even 3x10mins a week is a great starting point.
2) Sauna. If your gym has a sauna, make use of it. This is where you can go to sweat out toxins + help reduce water retention + burn calories whilst literally sitting there doing nothing. Fantastic add-on after a workout.
3) Weight train harder. Train with more intention - squeeze and stretch the muscle more, hit forced reps, increase volume, decrease rest between sets, superset, make sure you sweat instead of just going through the motion.
4) 30 mins outdoor walk. Take up walking in your local area. Start with 2x 30mins a week and build on it. A good trick is just walk 15mins 1 way. Then turn around and head back. “30mins” is a lot easier when you just focus on the first 15mins.
5) Get into swimming. It’s a great way to burn calories on top of weights/cardio training. Running, biking, kayaking, sport, are also great.
6) Want it MORE. Everyone wants to get in shape but you’ll only get as far as you push yourself. Match your effort to your want, increase your want, and then put in the work! Prioritise and hold your fitness high; so regardless of how busy you get, you will make time for this. Why? Because you want it bad enough.
Hope this spreads some motivation! Have an epic rest of your day 🙏🏽
