📣 SUPERCHAMPS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 📣

Superchamps is nearly here! From 16–19 September, we’ll welcome teams from across the country to Devoy for four fantastic days of squash. 🏆

Hosting an event of this size takes a huge team effort, and we need our members’ support to help make it a success.

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with:

🧹 Court cleaning, general tidying and daily setup
🍻 Bar duties
🍽️ Kitchen assistance
🎰 Thursday and Saturday event setup
🧁 Home-baked goodies

Whether you can spare an hour, cover one match session or help for a full day, every contribution will make a real difference.

MATCH SESSIONS

Wednesday: 12pm, 3.30pm and 7pm
Thursday: 9am, 1pm and 4pm
Friday: 10am, 2pm and 6pm
Saturday finals: 10am and 2pm

We’ll also need support for:

🎰 Social Casino Night — Thursday from 7pm
🍽️ Prizegiving and Dinner — Saturday from 6pm

🏆 THAT’S A WRAP FOR 2026! 🏆

The Barfoot & Thompson Cherrywood One Day Player Series is officially done and dusted for another year! 🎉

💰 Congratulations to our final prize winners, who each walked away with $250 cash.

This short-format tournament series continues to be a real winner. With over 300 entries across the series and a massive $6,500 in cash prize money paid out, there was plenty to play for! 💵🔥

And the good news… WE WILL BE BACK IN 2027! 🙌🎾

And that’s a wrap of the Barfoot & Thompson Cherrywood 1 Day tournament series for the year!

What an incredible five rounds it has been!

A huge congratulations to all of today’s winners and finalists.

Ten players each took home $250 for accumulating the highest points across the series through participation, match wins, and bonus points for entering all five rounds.

We also had a tie for 10th place, with the prize being shared between two deserving players.

In a truly touching gesture, all of the finalists chose to contribute $50 from their prize money to support Abby Devoy, who tragically and unexpectedly lost her mum, Anna Devoy, this week.

Thanks to their generosity, a total of $500 will be donated to Abby. ❤️

What a fantastic way to finish the series—great squash, great people, and an amazing show of support from our squash community.

We are incredibly sad to share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of our dear club member, Anna Devoy. 🕊️

Anna was Abby’s biggest supporter and a well-known squash mum at Devoy. She was a familiar face at so many of our club events, always willing to lend a hand and offering a smile and kindness that will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Abby and Anna’s whānau during this incredibly difficult time.
