GRADE 15 McCARTNEY TOURNAMENT TRIALS

We’re getting ready for the 2026 McCartney Tournament and will be holding trials to select players for our Grade 15 Taupō team.

⚽️🌧️ FOOTBALL CANCELLED — PRIZEGIVING IS STILL ON! 🏆

Fortunately or unfortunately -depending on which side of the bed you woke up on this morning 😂 -Saturday football is CANCELLED today.

The forecast is looking pretty wet for the day, and with our mini-tournament format meaning the kids would be outside and exposed to the rain for longer than a normal Saturday, we’ve made the call to cancel the football.

We don’t want cold, wet kids hanging around for hours and potentially picking up a few extra winter bugs! 🌧️🥶

BUT… PRIZEGIVING IS ABSOLUTELY STILL ON! 🏆🏅🎉

We can’t finish the season without celebrating our awesome players, coaches and teams!

Prizegiving will be held at the clubrooms as planned, starting with:

🏆 Grade 8 — 9:00am
Grade 10 - 10:00am
Grade 9 -11:00am
Grade 11 - midday
Open Grade - 1pm

Then we’ll continue through the grades as per the prizegiving timetable.

And come hungry! We’ve got plenty of food providers set up right by the clubrooms — hot food, coffee, A Taste of Fiji and hotdogs— so please support them and grab yourself something yummy while you’re there! ☕️🌭🍦

So leave the boots at home, bring the kids along and come celebrate the end of another fantastic season with us! 💚⚽️

🏆 LAST GAMES + PRIZEGIVING THIS WEEKEND!

Can you believe it? This weekend’s games are the LAST games of our 2026 Saturday football season! It honestly feels like the season has flown by! ⚽️

And… I think we may have jinxed ourselves! 😂 After raving in our last newsletter about how AMAZING the weather has been all season, we’ve now got rain on the forecast for tomorrow! 🌧️

We’ll keep an eye on conditions and will post an update by 7:30am tomorrow if the weather is too wet for football.

👉 IMPORTANT: If games do need to be cancelled due to the weather, PRIZEGIVING WILL STILL GO AHEAD at the clubrooms as planned, following the scheduled prizegiving times.

And come hungry! 😋 We’ve got some wonderful food trucks joining us with Fiji’s Finest, hotdogs, coffee and ice cream on offer throughout the morning! 🌭☕️🍦

So bring along some good vibes and an appetite, and let’s finish the season on a high! 🙌

Good luck to our under 13 Girls Federation team who have their last game this weekend!!!

A note from our Under 13 Federation Girls Coach:

I have had the privilege of coaching the Taupō AFC Girls Federation U13 team this season, competing against teams from across the Bay of Plenty. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch the players develop both individually and as a team. Their growth, confidence, and understanding of the game have been evident in the way they play on the field. Coaching this group has been made even more enjoyable by such a fantastic team of girls and the unwavering support of their parents from the sidelines. A huge thank you to Ray How and Sean Barbour for leading the Tuesday Federation training sessions, and to Gareth Gray for refereeing all our home games throughout the season. Early next year, we will be seeking players for the Taupō AFC U13 and U15 girls' teams. I encourage any girls interested in playing football to come along and get involved. Finally, thank you to Yvette Westerman and Taupō Junior Football for your support and encouragement throughout the year. It is greatly appreciated. Sarah Lord (Coach).

⚽️ LAST CALL FOR ALL GIRLS 12 & UNDER!⚽️

Is your daughter currently playing football and and 12 or under?

We’re putting together our Taupō AFC Girls Under 12 Tournament Team and we want to make sure we don’t miss anyone who might be keen! 💚⚽️

We’ll be holding a muster shortly, so we are in the final throws of gathering names of girls who would like the opportunity to play these games over the next 8 weeks.

If your daughter is keen, please comment below or send us a message with her name and current age/grade and we’ll make sure she’s on the list.

We’d love to see a great group of girls come together! 💚⚽️

Bring your spare coins as we are making sure you won’t go hungry!!! We’ve got sausages being cooked up by the top fields for first kickers and teams and have these guys down by the clubrooms for easy access due to photo day - all sausages sold going towards great fundraising opportunities so remember to pack your spare coins!

Calling all trophies from last years prize giving… if you still have one of these great awards at home, could you please bring it up to football this weekend for us to freshen up for this years winners - we will have a box at the front of the gear sheds ready for returns - Thanks
