🔥Junior Rugby League - TAUPO🔥

Get down to Owen Delany Park to support our tamariki as they host clubs from across the Bay Of Plenty District Rugby League, in what will be a fantastic day of junior footy!

THIS SUNDAY 26th March

Be sure to come with your pockets full as there will be a load of kai stalls set up as fundraisers for our Taupo Phoenix Rugby League Club and Tauhara Te Maunga Rugby League & Sports club junior sides.

FAIR PLAY, GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP & POSITIVE SPECTATOR SUPPORT is all encouraged in and around our tamariki.

🟦 Kia hiwa ra! Kia hiwa ra! 🟦

We are happy to announce that we aim to take all Ngati Tuwharetoa under 10’s, under 11’s and under 12’s (MIXED) teams to this years NZ Maori Rugby League tournament.

Details regarding trials for the above age groups are below:

Date: 21st of August
Location: Hickling Park (Taupo)
9.00am - 10.00am - Registration (Alternatively, you can register your tamaiti/tamariki prior to trial date by follow this link - https://www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/194804)

10.00-11.00am - tamariki will be split off into age groups and will participate in training drills run by local senior players.

11.00am - Split off into teams with coaches for trial matches.

11.30am trial matches start (x4 20min quarters, 5min brakes in between).

Players must be born within the years below to determine age group eligibility:

10s | 2012 or 2013
11s | 2011 or 2012
12s | 2010 or 2011

Information about teams and training schedules will be sent out to parents & players the following week of trials.

It has been a real pleasure to see more and more Ngati Tuwharetoa junior teams being represented at Maori tournaments and we are really excited to give all our tamariki who whakapapa to Tuwharetoa the opportunity to represent their iwi. We also hope that in doing so, we can help further promote rugby league within our rohe and foster our younger age groups within the game.

🟦 BATTLE OF THE LAKE 🟦

TUWHARETOA MAORI RUGBY LEAGUE TRIAL

Te Mataapuna vs Te Hikuwai

It’s with great anticipation we announce that we have the chance to finally proceed with The Battle of the Lake, this year.

The Battle of the Lake is an opportunity for Tuwharetoa people and players, from near and afar, to come together and celebrate our Tuwharetoatanga. It also gives us the chance to strengthen rugby league within our iwi and the chance to have a broader representation of whanau and hapu within the Tuwharetoa Tuakana team.

This trial will have two teams representing the southern and northern ends of lake Taupo.
It is an open trial, so if you have the desire to represent your whanau, your hapu and iwi through rugby league, nau mai haere mai!

Date: Saturday, 3rd of September
Location: Hickling Park, Taupo
12.00 - 12:30pm: Introduction / Registrations
12.30 - Warm up
1.30 - Kick off
