A belated post from our last event. Himitangi at the beginning of April. HS LIiquorice Twist was her usual reliable self in the 105. Nice dressage, a couple down in the show jumping (hadn’t been to any competitions since November with her so a bit rusty) and clear jumping round the cross country. She’s 21 years old now so will have to see how she is in the spring as to whether she gets to skip around a few more courses. Volacious NZPH had a clear show jumping in the 80 but the cross country a bit too challenging for her careful soul and didn’t quite get to the finish flags. A few hunts over the winter to get her ‘go button’ working better and should have a good season in the spring.

Some photo spam of HS Liquorice Twist from the Taupo horse trial. Had a bit of a slip in the mud during the show jumping however , as usual, she saved my butt. Absolutely had a blast on the cross country for a clear jumping round. Latte didn’t start the cross country as she had managed to injure herself in her yard and was a bit sore.

Volacious NZPH at Arran Station last weekend. Think she quite enjoyed her cross country so I’m feeling I’m making progress at last. Finished 6th overall on her dressage score 😊

HS Liquorice Twist last weekend at the North Island one day championship horse trial at Arran Station in the 1.05m class. First horse trial in nearly 12 months and only added xc time faults (me being a bit of a cautious nana) to her dressage score ⭐️ for 8th place. Not bad for a 21 year old horse.

HS Liquorice Twist 3rd today at Hawera in the Dunstan Amateur series (she’s powered by Dunstan Extruded Rice too 😉) sponsored locally by Leasehold Solutions. Proving the old girl has still got it, 20 years young. Been a while since I last jumped in this class so I am totally stoked with her 🦄. Photo not the greatest, she just wanted her carrots

HS Latte and Volacious NZPH in the CNC80 at Taupo last weekend. It was cool getting a chance to jump indoors over baby jumps for these two. Latte finished on her dressage score to place 2nd in the Spot on photos sponsored class.
Many thanks to the organisers continuing with running the event under the Covid requirements and most of their usual entries locked behind level 3.

HS Liquorice Twist at the Taupo horse trial last weekend. She felt as good as ever in the 105. Two pesky rails in the show jumping meant she finished 6th. She never has enjoyed jumping indoors so I was happy anyway!👍

Many thanks to the organisers for holding the competition with all the extra hassle Covid creates.

Photos from the Waikato Equestrian Centre horse trial last weekend. Volacious NZPH (Cheeky) was a star again finishing on her dressage score in 6th place in her class. HS Liquorice Twist jumped clear all weekend (a few time penalties in the cross country). HS Latte did a nice dressage and clear Showjumping but a little whoopsie on the xc cost us 20. Totally rapt with the three of them and feel I have blown the rust and cobwebs away finally after last year being a bit of a non event for more than just Covid reasons. It will be my last horse trial for this season as I’ll be having a bit of a holiday in April with husband doing (amongst other things) the Otago Rail Trail. Also planning to get a bit of hunting in with the Cheeky pony this winter as it helped her focus on her jumps.
A big thank you to the organisers, volunteers and sponsors. 👏

Some photo spam from the horse trial last weekend.
Volacious NZPH (Cheeky) with her game face on to score a win in her class finishing on her dressage score. (The real big win for me was feeling she is now looking at her fences instead of every other direction😊🥇)
HS Latte, after dressage and show jumping in two separate thunderstorms finally in the sun on the cross country to finish on her dressage score in 5th.
HS Liquorice had no jumping faults but a few time on the cross country put her in 8th in the 105 class.
Thank you so much to Eventing Central Districts for persevering to run the event in level 2. Here’s hoping next year is ‘normal’.
Many thanks also to the sponsors of the event. Overall sponsors Dunstan Horsefeeds, fantastic feeds for the horses to chow down on.

Photos from the Taranaki Equestrian Jumping show at Hawera the other weekend. A very soggy morning the first day (my horses must have shown the benefit of their eventing training as they both went double clear in the wet). HS Liquorice Twist getting on with job in style and HS Latte not overly impressed but humouring my madness. Third photo HS Latte on a sunny day 2.
First three photos credit to Hyphen photography.
Last photo the beautiful sunrise on the Sunday which I couldn’t resist snapping with my phone on my morning walk with the labradoodle.
Thanks to the show committee and sponsors. Both of HS Latte’s classes sponsored by Bracegirdle Livestock and Twist’s sponsored by the Egarr Family✅
