TOURNAMANT 3 MOSGIEL
Well what a day! With the Lone Star “Saturday night miracle” setting us up well I thought we might be in for a good day!.
GAME 1 COU65 vs Southwest.
1st Half: 41-0
The whole game was a case of “pressure builds points”. A fantastic tera effort tries coming from forward domination (tight heads) slight of hand, Grace, pure speed (Rota), flowing back moves, (Max), tries coming from turnovers, Thomas needs to thank Hannah!! Even with some white line fever we managed to get another try!! In difficult kicking conditions Xavier nailed a total of 12 points with the boots and a try a game high of 17, not far behind him a hatrcik from Simon….it was a peasure to watch !!
Tries to, Simon Cavanagh (3), Sam McAtamney, Max Simpson, Grace Hastie, Josh Allison,
Conversions: 3 to Xavier Small
2nd half: 36-0
Tries to, Xavier Small, Sam McAtamney, Thomas Hulsman, Rota Lafita, Xavier Liddel, Grace Hastie,
Conversions: 3 to Xavier Small
FINAL SCORE: 77-0
Game 2: COU65 vs Metro Gold
A tougher opponent and an all round tighter game! Metro found some grit and determination as they fought to prevent us from a clean sweep…after a flying start we gave way to some pressure and camoe out behind in the 1st half with work to do in the second.
1st half: 19-14 to Metro
Tries to Raff Love and Xavier Liddel
Cons: 2 to Xavier Small
2nd half: 21-0 to CO.
Tries to Raff Love (2), and Sam McAtamney
Cons: 3 to Xavier Small

Well played to all! So many great team tries and the occasional individual piece of brilliance…CO U65 are so far undefeated and enjoying themselves along the way I think!!
2. Training or final tournament: training will be on the Wed 18th and the 25th at 4pm and Sunday the 22nd at 10am. The Otago coaches will be running the training on the Sunday the 22nd. As always let me know if you cant make any of the dates…..its not an issue of you cant ……just let us know.

3. Dinner on the Saturday prior to the final tournament. Based on feedback and prior experience we will now aim to meet at the Speights Ale house in Dunedin rather than the Lone Star. (last year the food was crap and took an age to serve and was cold when it arrived!!!! The kids went to bed late due to the amount of customers…..we will aim to meet at the ale house at 6pm ….le me know if you are keen and ill book a table to make sure we can eat early and get sorted!

4. Weigh in: their will be a weigh in in Mosgiel. Nay player over can still play but cannot be considered for Otago selection.

5. Please let me know if you do not wish to be selected for the Otago team…it is a big commitment. The programme starts on Sunday 5th Aug and goes through to the October school holidays. The programme training or games every Sunday for that period and will include a week long camp in Dunedin when the athletes are billeted out in Dunedin and attend the local schools for the week with the billets. The final tournament is 3 days and wil be in South Canterbury (either Rolleston or Lincoln).

I believe there will be several player from CO selected and as we did last year the sharing of rides and logistics means that not everyone needs to travel every week…..

6. Finally, can all the athletes please send a report to me rating themselves out of 5 on the achievement of their goals to date where 1= what goals? Through to 5: nailed all of them and cant wait to carry on…obviously 2.5 would be “work inprogress!”
A special thanks to Jono Love for the help and assistance on managing the team at training and game days…much appreciated!!
Photo money is now all in so I’ll order the 21 photos we need and try to get them delivered for the final tournament.
Thanks again to one and all and see you all soon. Good luck to everyone on finals day this Saturday.
Cheers, Ashley

Great team effort everyone, and two wins to top off some enjoyable rugby!
We came together like we had been playing together since the start of the year. Beaver and I were very happy with how you played, your team work and sportsmanship.

I think sportsmanship is knowing that it is a game,
that we are only as a good as our opponents,
and whether we win or lose,
to always give 100 percent.

Great to see positive sideline behaviour and attitudes from all players and Central Otago supporters. We want people to know how awesome we are, so keep it up!
