💙 On behalf of Merv's loving whānau 💙

Mervyn John Green

Sunrise 22/01/1956

Sunset 25/06/2026

Much loved son of Ian and Gaynor, brother of Sharlane and Janette ,Mervyn was born and raised in Matamata.

He completed his apprenticeship as a jockey with Buzz Legget in the 70’s.

Friends and family look back over the years of laughter on and off the Rugby field, the Cricket pitch, tennis court, squash matches and post tournament socials, family camping trips, fishing expeditions and the all important Golf which bought him so much happiness.

Always a wonderful family man, Merv was a devoted and loving father to Cara and Newton and later to Hone and Luc.

He is a proud Koro to Kaawa,Oho,Toka Uru,Ia,and Cairo, and Peace,Kayden,Jayne and Kurei.

Mervyn married Charn in 2006 and they resided in Ohope for the rest of his life.

The threads that weave together our memories created friendships that we will always treasure.

You have always been a great mate. Your loyalty, kindness and ever-present sense of humour have touched all of us.

You had a way of making people feel welcome, supported and at ease.

That is a rare and special gift.

You have shaped people you know, for the better.

Please know that your impact on our lives will never fade.

He will always be loved and always remembered.

The funeral service will be held at Willets Whakatane 11am Monday June 29th

Light refreshments will be served following the service.

‘Family Only’ to gather at the crematorium.

Friends and loved ones are invited to raise a glass to Merv at the Ohope Golf Club 3-5pm
