💔 FAREWELL OUR BELOVED KORO EDDIE ERICK 🤍

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our great Leader for Tamaki Makaurau Mens & Mixed Netball (formerly Auckland Mens & Mixed Netball) Eddie Erick — a true tōtara of our netball community whose heart, passion, and service have shaped generations of players, coaches, and volunteers across Aotearoa.

Eddie was one of the foundation members in the establishment of Men’s Netball in Auckland during the early 1980s, helping to build what we now know as Tāmaki Makaurau Men’s & Mixed Netball (formerly Auckland Men’s & Mixed Netball). A strong advocate and visionary leader, Eddie worked tirelessly to ensure men’s and mixed netball had a proud and enduring place in our sport.

As a former men’s player, Eddie continued to serve netball at all levels — championing women’s, men’s, and mixed netball alike. While serving on the New Zealand Men’s & Mixed Netball Association (NZMMNA) Board, he was a driving force behind the establishment of Mixed Netball Nationals.
Through his advocacy and the collective support of regions across the country, this tournament became a nationally sanctioned event, now proudly celebrated on the NZMMNA calendar for over 20 years.

Eddie was also a long-standing committee member and stalwart at Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre, his home and heart for many years. His presence, wisdom, and generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Words cannot express the loss of this ICON and LEGEND of netball. So many players — past and present — will remember the man he was and what he stood for: humility, service, and unwavering love for his people and the game.

To the whānau of Eddie Erick, we offer our deepest love and gratitude. Thank you for allowing Eddie to be part of our lives for so many years. We mourn with you, we cry with you, and we celebrate this extraordinary father, coach, mentor, manager, umpire, committee member — and the many roles our Koro so proudly carried.

Tāmaki Makaurau Men’s & Mixed Netball is your club, Koro Eddie, and we will continue to honour and grow the legacy you have left us through the sport we all love.

Rest in peace and eternal love, our dear Koro Eddie.
Your spirit will forever be felt on every court across Tāmaki Makaurau and Aotearoa. 🕊️💛

Team - You all should be so proud of yourselves and the mana you carried wearing the BLUE STRIP. You progressed with every game and solidified as a TEAM which bought not only trust but new friendships and some beautiful memories. Because 5th place ? Hell yeah 💪🏽

Coach / Assistant Coach - Junior Manapori & Billie Flesher-Martin - we THANK YOU both for your efforts, time, passion and skills you brought to not only the Team but the club as a whole. We all benefit having you both lead our waka and keep us afloat. Nga mihi nu nui ❤️

Our Backbones - Chris D**e, Lisa Ransom, Jane Anne Toi and Eddie Eric - THANK YOU for the uniforms, budgets, training assistance, tshirts and looking after us in every way needed ! You are all the reasons we are able to do what we love !

Our P*P / Live Operator / Hype Queen and Physio / Cook / Unofficial Ref / Driver / Shoulder to lean on - Hare Graham - YOU are everything positive, everything uplifting and a very much needed breath of fresh air. You carried us so well this week boo and I THANK YOU with my whole entire heart !

Our fave umpire / Cook - Renee Walters - You gave up weekends to be with us through buildup and put your best foot forward to carry the Tāmaki Mākaurau name in what is probably the hardest job in the whole campaign - UMPIRE !
Thank you for always being the coolest roomy and always giving your time, efforts and even your vehicle ! We appreciate you !!!

We are looking for players to compete in the New Zealand Mens Nationals, being held in Hawkes Bay from 17-20 September.

10am - 12pm
Please be at the courts by 9:45am
$20 rego fee
