ARDMORE MARIST PRESIDENTS β 2026 SEASON WRAP
Gather round, you old bastards. Pull up a chair (not too quickly, we know about your knees).
Back in 2023, after a decade since the last time Ardmore Marist Rugby & Sports Club fielded a Presidents side.
We dusted off the boots, sucked in the guts, and reached out to our Old Boys in a bold attempt to rebuild this Club of ours.
We figured out pretty quickly β you can't rebuild a club from the juniors up alone.
It had to come from our Old Boys down. Sharing the history, the traditions, and the deeply questionable stories that make a Rugby Club great.
Since then, the ranks have increased with old players coming home. Dads and Uncles of our Juniors, suddenly remembering they used to be nimble and fast.
No training. Just a bunch of old buggers reliving their youth through the love of the game and the bond forged from the left and the right. You know the bond. The one that says "I'll smash you on the field, then buy you a b**r after."
What's impressed me most besides this brotherhood of battered blokes, is the competitive nature in a fun environment. Muscle memory is a hell of a thing. Ten, twenty years off, first big bop, and suddenly the hands remember what the brain forgot. The skills come flooding back. The lungs and hamstrings, unfortunately, also come flooding back. Usually gasping and screaming.
What a 2026 season we've had.
We finished it off with our Annual Counties Presidents Finals against our good neighbours, Pukekohe Presidents.
Two Cups on the line. Two teams going head to head for bragging rights:
π The Counties Manukau Presidents Cup
π The Annette Tossel Inaugural Cup
A massive thank you to the Pukekohe Presidents for hosting us this year. We look forward to hosting you in 2027, the sheds will be lined with strapping tape and the sweet stench of lineament, the pints will be cold, and the banter will be merciless.
A massive thank you to our 2026 sponsors:
Slab Specialists
2 Nine 8 Performance
McWatt Group Ltd
Bryant Builders
Bridgeman Concrete Ltd
We appreciate your support, and we look forward to you backing us again next season.
And to our Ardmore Marist Presidents.
Lads... it's been a trip and a half.
Rest up. Stay active. Stay connected.
We reset, and we go again.
