Dear Members,
It is with deep sorrow that I inform the Pohara Boat Club Members of my resignation.
Due to the way I have been made feel by certain members of the committee over the past 6 months or so, their need to take over, push and control, that I am resigning from all my roles at the Pohara Boat Club.
I will honour the current booking for the Lions on the 25th June but there will be no more Social Sundays, Orphans Xmas Dinners or any other function I have put on.
Unfortunately this may mean the end of the club, but it's the wrong doings of a few committee members that has ruined my passion for the club.
I use to love going to work, walking into the club felt like home and was often told I should take my bed with me as I was always there. Now I feel like I don't belong!
The Pohara Boat Club shouldn't rely solely on its social income for survival. It's a Boat Club, not a restaurant!
For ten years I have brought income into the club to help keep membership fees low, fundraised through fishing competitions etc to raise funds to purchase new boats, the list of what I have done is endless.
All divisions of the committee should be pulling their weight and bringing members and income into the club not leaving it to a select few.
The current nominated committee standing this season does not have the drive or passion to keep the club going.
With no commodore standing the future of the club is bleak.
TDC will not offer a lease with a committee in such shambles.
I do hope there is a future for the club, but after I remove my name from everything I don't see much hope.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my Social Sundays and me over the last 10 years.
Sorry I will no longer be providing this service for you to continue to enjoy.
Amy Ashford
