Here’s a great look back in time with our local legend Toni Hodgkinson and a quick mention of her first coach, the great Brian Jacobsen. Toni had another great coach in between Brian and John, that was the legendary Kerry Hill.

A Kiwi Olympian's records have stood the test of time.

Colgate Games Report – Competition Day 2 (Saturday)

Another wet start!

Mazzy got us underway with a very fast-paced 1500m, finishing with a personal best time, then backed it up in heat 2 of long jump.

Jude stepped into the discus ring and came away with a new personal best. Nelson and Charlie B both long jumped their way to finalist ribbons.

Sophie had a tough, very fast 1500m race, then jumped her way to equal her high jump personal best.

Liam stepped onto the track for the para boys 200m, finishing with a personal best time and another silver medal.

Karter threw his way to a 2nd place flag in shot put.

Mazzy was back again in discus, finishing in the middle of the field with a personal best.

Katara sprinted her way to a new personal best in the 100m.

Sophie and Bree both came away with personal bests in the 100m, with Bree narrowly missing out on a semi-final spot by just one place.

Liam was also up in para boys shot put, once again coming away with a silver medal.

Lexi ran the 100m and long jumped her way to finalist ribbons.

Zienna threw her way to a 3rd place in shot put.

Warren headed off to discus, where he threw a new personal best. He then had to re-do his entire age group discus event after it was discovered the wrong weight discus had been used. He increased his personal best twice in three throws.

Sunday is shaping up to be another action-packed day, with the promise of fine weather!

Colgate Games Report – Competition Day 1 (Friday)

The day started out wet but warm. As the day went on we had a mix of passing showers, then it turned hot, and our little team’s results were almost as hot.

To start us off were Warren Hitchcock and Charlie Baigent in shot put. Warren came away with a personal best in a very competitive field, while Charlie earned a finalist ribbon.

Next up were Katara Kraay in long jump and Bree Dell in the 400m and discus. Katara finished towards the bottom of a big field. Bree finished halfway up the field in the 400m with a personal best time, and towards the bottom in discus.

Karter Solly stepped up to the discus circle and came home with a 3rd place flag.
Sophie Nalder took to the track in the 1600m track walk and finished 4th.

Zienna Baigent ran the 200m, earning a finalist ribbon, then picked up another finalist ribbon in discus.
Liam Hitchcock competed in discus in the para section and won a silver medal.
Lexi Kraay ran the 200m and earned a finalist ribbon.

Jude Molloy ran an 800m race in the heat, finishing with a personal best time. Mazzy Evans also ran the 800m in a very quick field and finished with a personal best.

The younger kids (7, 8 and 9 year olds) results aren’t published, so any possible PBs are unknown. They are awarded flags for top 3 placings in each heat, with others receiving finalist ribbons.

The 10–14 year olds compete in heats, with the top 24 progressing to semi-finals in sprints, then the top 8 to finals. Distance races are timed finals, and field events are decided on the top 3 measurements across all heats.

Medals are awarded for the first 3 places, with finalist ribbons for placings 4–8.
