Wow what a massive weekend!!!!!!!!!
So after a very hectic last 2 weeks having to do a full engine rebuild and managing to finish it literally the day before the race. We got to the track at 8am and did documentation and drivers briefing before qualifying at 9am.
Went out and immediately noticed the track had bu**er all grip thanks to the rather cold conditions. Still............I managed a 1:50 which considering i hadn't been to taupo in about 3 years, I thought that wasn't to bad. Edward Holdcroft then jumped in and also managed a pb which was absolutely amazing because he hadn't been there in about 8 years...... way to go.
Race start......Edward is starting for us......goooo Eddie!!!!!
Solid start and a solid first few laps.......then what the hell happened........I don't recall putting Nos in the car.....but bloody hell he was flying, laying down seriously good times.
Dean Jones and I were keeping an eye on the lap times and position from the pits and were suitably impressed to say thr least.
End of the first stint and its my turn........Ed comes in from 3rd position and hands it over to me, we drop down to 4th thanks to a bad pit stop (we need to work on those)
I go out and give it the jandel........the car feels amazing.......I eventually claw our way back up to 3rd until I finally have to pit for a splash and dash. I stay in the car and give it another go..........we finally end the day with a 3rd in class!!!!!! Super happy with that.!!!!!
Big thanks to my supportive wife Miss Shannon Ward. Thanks to Dean for coming and helping in the pits, much appreciated!!!
Oh, and to cap it off..............we make it all the way back to papakura and the trailer decides its had enough of the car getting all the attention and decides to kick the car off, soooo I drove it the rest of the way home haha
