Whether you're chasing a podium, racing your first nationals, or simply looking for an unforgettable adventure, this promises to be an awesome event in one of New Zealand's most spectacular locations.

We'll be making the trip south with a North Island Youth team, and we're also putting together an Open team to support the event. We'd love to see as many teams as possible on the start line to help make this year's Nationals a successful event and one worth carrying on!

This event is part of the new three-event Schools Adventure Racing Championship Series and will also serve as the National Schools Adventure Racing Championships. Don't miss the chance to take on the country's best and be part of an exciting new chapter for school adventure racing...

Snow has come to the mountains surrounding Twizel, and things are looking a bit whiter than when I did my latest course recce back in May (but there was snow then too!) Will it melt by September? Is your team signed up yet?

We've got a good mix of schools so far, and quite a few 'grown-up teams' who'll be seeing how they stack up against the country's AR youth.

The event(s) are a great intro to AR at the shorter distances, and a solid outing at the 12-hour distance. We'll extend early registration prices through the end of the month, so get your team together and sign up for a bit of late winter/early spring fun!

Top paddle team “In it for the Route” — Ethan, Tom, Maysen & Zac- didn’t just paddle strong… they had to think differently too.

Starting their trek from TA2 instead of River Valley, like the duathlon teams did, their race came down to smart navigation, sharp decisions, and making the most of every leg.

Out here, there’s no single “right” way- just the one you back when it counts 😏

A huge thank you to River Valley Lodge and the raft guide team who went above and beyond to make the race logistics work. They floated out all the competitors’ packrafts and paddle gear, allowing racers to transition straight from the river onto their trek stage- no lugging of paddling gear for the next four hours required. Incredible support and teamwork!

What a day out on the course! Yesterday’s adventure race had everything- hills, streams, a stunning river paddle, and so much sunshine that made the scenery pop. The team spirit was unreal and the smiles say it all. A few snaps below to capture the fun- can’t wait to see the professional shots when they’re ready!
