THE CENTENARY WEEKEND
Wow... what a weekend... four days, and nights, of hectic madness fun and catchups enjoyed by one and all.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SPRINGSTON RFC PRESIDENT
What an awesome weekend celebrating our centenary.
It wouldn't have been possible without all the great people who attend the weekend events and for a small club like ours to have over 300 people there on Saturday night was very special for us all.
I would just like to thank the centenary committee for the great job they have done, it was an incredible effort over a long period of time.
I would also like to thank the Springston RFC committee for their support as well.
Thank you to the seniors team's for doing there job's over the weekend and a big thanks to the sponsors without whose support now and in the past Springston Rugby would not be where it is today.
I hope the weekend gave you all a chance to reminisce the great memories of the past and create new memories of your time with Springston.
This is our centenary year so let's enjoy the rest of the season as we have this weekend and on that thanks to everyone again for taking part in the celebration.
From a very proud President
Warren Norton

WE NEED YOUR PHOTOS OF THE WEEKEND
There were many photos taken over the weekend by Chandra Harrison, who did an amazing job capturing all the movement and fun of the weekend. However, the Springston RFC Centenary Committee want more... we want your photos as well.
We will print out all the photos of the weekend and make a large album which we can pass on to future generations, not just digital images, but actual hold in your hand photos.
So, if you have any photos of the Centenary, then please take a minute to email them to the Springston Centenary Committee at: [email protected]

THE SPRINGSTON RFC COMMITTEE’s
The Springston Rugby Football Club Rugby Committee and the Springston Rugby Football Club Centenary Committee were very honoured and proud to be the people to bring you your Centenary celebrations.
Such a huge moment for the club deserved to be held in style, and at home at the Springston Domain, but it needed to be done in true Springston fashion with bags of fun music and laughs all thrown in.
There was a huge amount of work put in not only by the Centenary committee, and this message today is to say thank you to all who contributed to make this such a great Springston RFC Centenary celebration.
As with every large event, there are many unsung heroes of the weekend, and here we hope to cover everyone, but unfortunately some will be missed. Only one name is on the list, as without her, the event would not have been as fantastic and as organised as it was!
A massive THANK YOU:
• Our wonderful Supporters
• Our generous Sponsors
• Our dedicated Players
• Our hard-working Coaches
• Our even harder working Managers
• Those Referee fellas
• People in the bars serving the refreshments
• Guys who sorted the game videos
• The people who took the photos
• Grounds People for making the grounds perfect
• To the Senior Club Duty Teams who were there each day of the event helping it to run smoothly
• The fellas who did the Fencing modifications making access easy
• The Traffic Control folks who made it safe for us to get in and out of the event
• The Woolshed owner for providing much needed off road parking
• The Selwyn Combined Schools First 15 for working on Saturday night cleaning up and handing out food
• The guys who did the Line Marking on the Fields
• The Light Tower people who allowed us to see in the dark
• The Bus people for getting us home to our door safe and sound
• Those who provided Marquees both big and small
• Portaloos for those important little occasions
• The Food Vendors for keeping us fed
• The Entertainment people for keeping us entertained... band, bouncy castle, auctioneer, speeches
• The Caterers for delicious food, and for pizza (generally speaking)
• The Weather Gods who smiled on us all week long
• Lincoln Rugby Football Club for bringing their A-games
• Lincoln Rugby Football Club supporters for secretly cheering on the Springston teams on our Centenary Day
• And lastly, Candace Moir who as mentioned above was the backbone of the event, bringing a specialist knowledge of what was needed, as well as the when, and most importantly the how. Candace is the partner of one of our senior players, and both Candace and Josh did an astonishing job bringing the entire event together. We can’t thank them enough.

Hi All
What a week its been.. all the build up.. all the anticipation.. and today here it is.. the game of the Centenary.. the Springston Golden Oldie Rams vs. the Lincoln Golden Oldie Lizards.
Both teams were in attendance at the pregame build up day yesterday and at one point in the day both teams looked ready for the battle ahead.
By 2am this morning.. one of those teams looked a lot less ready!
Life on the sideline will be lovely today with a balmy 23 degrees to keep you warm and toasty, while the juice from the bar will keep you well hydrated.

The rumour from the Springston Rams compound is that they are very much looking forward to playing in todays sub tropical temperatures, safe in the knowledge that the sweat in their eyes and the heat on their bodies will enhance their already considerable talents.
The game kicks off at 1pm ish.
The program for the day looks like this:
SUNDAY 9th MAY
Duty Team – Div. 1 and Div. 3
• The teams will arrive from 11.45am
• There will be a BBQ for all who attend
• The bar will be open in the pavilion
• There will be a bouncy castle for the kids down by the playground
• Div. 1 and Div. 3 may be running raffles or silent auctions on the day
There is also an All Blacks replica jersey signed by the Highlander and All Black great Ben Smith to be auctioned off during the day.
We look forward to seeing you all down there today, and wish to thank you one and all for your amazing support this entire Centenary Weekend.

Hi All
Here it is.. Club Day.. Centenary Day!
First though we have to make you all aware of a late change regarding parking, and our sincerest apologies regarding this.
The Springston Pony Club, despite agreeing for the last 6 months that it would be ok to use their grounds (weather dependent) decided around 5pm last night that they had a better offer which would provide them more money. This means we can no longer use the pony club as a parking area. We, the Springston Rugby Centenary Committee, realise this places an extra strain on an already tight parking situation, however the Springston Pony Club Committee have made their decision. Needless to say, we are very sorry to all our supporters, players etc who had planned to park there, and wish the Pony Club the best for their day today, and wish to congratulate them on their community spirit.
Today however is all about Springston Rugby Football Club's Centenary. Its currently 12 degrees, and is forecast for 21 degrees. How good!
The plan for the day is as follows:
SATURDAY 8th MAY – Day Time
Club Day – All Junior Teams playing, Colts, Div. 2 and Div. 1 all playing
Duty Team – Colts
• Junior team games start from 9am
• Senior teams will arrive from 11.45am
• Junior game times will be published closer to the day
• Senior games are Colts kick-off at 1pm, Div. 2 kick-off at 1pm and Div. 1 kick-off at 2.45pm
• The bar will be open in the pavilion from 11am
• PROMED will be onsite from 9am to 5pm at the entrance to the fields should you need any medical assistance
• The Div. 1 game will be livestreamed on Facebook or YouTube (to be finalised) for anyone not at the club on the day
• Colts may be running raffles or silent auctions on the day
• Parking will be across the road in the Woolshed paddock
• Food vendors and coffee carts will be available on the day down by the playground
• There will be a bouncy castle for the kids down by the playground
• Post-Match - teams will use the pavilion following their games for speeches.
LIVE STREAM
The games played on Field 1 will hopefully be live streamed on Saturday 8th May on the Springston Rugby Football Club page, and on YouTube. They will definitely be available later if not live.
SATURDAY 8th MAY – CENTENARY EVENT
The Centenary Event itself will be held in a marquee on the netball courts and in the clubrooms. The night will include the following:
• Dress Code – The event is being held in a marquee on the netball courts so wear comfortable shoes and no heels please (they may make indentations in the netball courts). Smart casual is expected. Number 1’s for our rugby team players, coaches, managers and club administrators would be perfect.
• Doors to the marquee open at 6.30pm
• Welcome Pack – A couple of Centenary branded items for you to keep
• Supper – Continuous Finger Food
• Super Rugby Final – 7pm to 9pm
• Band – 9pm to 11.30pm
• Auction of 22 Commemorative Centenary Jerseys throughout the night (unfortunately the actual Commemorative jerseys won’t be here in time for the centenary despite assurances from the supplier)
• Auction of Signed Crusaders Super Rugby playing jersey – Courtesy of Crusader and Springston player, Mitchel Dunshea
• Life Member Speeches
• Other formal stuff
CENTENARY NIGHT BUSES – GETTING YOU HOME SAFELY

• Springston to Lincoln – Leave Springston at 12am and 12.45am
• Springston to Town via Halswell – Leave Springston at 1.30am
