Linda Simons School of Dance Ballet lessons for boys and girls ages 4 years and over at Southbridge Town Hall.

Happy New Year! Wishing you all the very best for a wonderful 2022.
I have been teaching ballet in Southbridge for the past 13 years and have loved every minute of it. However, the last two years have been very difficult and stressful due to lockdowns, Covid protocols and mandates etc. I have thus decided to have a break from teaching ballet this year. I will have to wait and see what the future holds after 2022.
Thank you so much for all your support over the years. This has not been an easy decision to make and I will really miss all the children.
Kind regards
Linda

The recital will take place on Friday 26 November at Lakeside Soldier’s Memorial Hall in Lakeside Road at 7pm. There is no stage but at least we can still go ahead with the recital. Masks will need to be worn and signing in or using the Tracer App is essential. There will be no ticket sales. Tickets will only be for entry purposes to ensure we do not exceed 90 people. However, a gold coin donation at the door would be appreciated to cover hall costs.
There will be a quick run through of the dances from 3.45-4.30pm on Friday 26 November at Lakeside Hall. This is compulsory for ALL children to attend. Just bring them straight from school in school uniform. No ballet uniform required.
The children are then required to return to Lakeside Hall at 6.30pm with hair and makeup done as well as be wearing ballet tights under their clothes ready to get into costume. A dressing gown would be great to wear over their costumes once they are dressed. Don’t forget ballet shoes and a named water bottle. No food.
Makeup
Children will need to wear foundation, eye shadow, mascara, blusher and lipstick.
The following link is a great video explaining how to do ballet makeup. No false eyelashes, of course! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3wnSeSehWs&ab_channel=PacificNorthwestBallet
Makeup is only to be worn on the recital night NOT at the dress rehearsal.
End of Term
The ballet recital will mark the end of our ballet term. There will be no more classes this year after 26 November.

Dear Parents
Unfortunately I've had to make the decision to CANCEL medal tests today.
1. The examiner is driving over from Lyttelton and there are already reports of surface flooding in Christchurch. Heathcote River has burst its banks. She would probably be fine to travel to us but not sure if she'd get back home this afternoon.
2. Civil Defence may need to use the hall for any emergency today. 100-200mm of rain is still expected to fall today.
I'm really sorry about this. The next possible date for medal tests is Sunday 13 June.
Please let me know if this date suits.
Linda
