Grand final Match report

With the weather starting to show its teeth, it made for a slippery surface. However the Ducks had gathered together a high calibre outfit tonight. They had Argentinian great footballer Lionel Messi who had been going for a tramp at Mount Robert and got wind of a sporting spectacle,so bought his tramping boots and showed he’s just as good with his hands as he is his feet. But they were coming up against last years champions who were not going to let go of the Eel cup easily and with Seth Judge hips doing things you would normally see in an after hours establishment, they were hard to contain. The Tomtits rushed out to a 4-0 lead and looked in anonymous form, but Riki Mitchell showed what a force she is proving untouchable as she sliced through the smallest of gaps. But it was the Tomtits who went to the oranges 4-1 up.
After talking about different trapping options at the break, it seemed to energise the Doc outfit and they came back steaming. With Lionel Messi using those tramping boots to good effect powering through a hole to score and with former Highlanders lock forward Tom Franklin showing he has lost none of his athletic abilities, they were on. But Tom Curnow was next to bounce for the Tomtits with a well taken intercept try and seeing him in full flight was a glorious thing, when Joel Nicholls scooted down the left hand flank to score they game was as good as done. But Doc showed some true grit to keep fighting till the end with Brent Mackenzie finishing with a try on the ho**er Oz.

Final score and 2026 Eels cup champions- Mt Travers Tomtits 7-4 over the Mighty Doc Ducks.

Grand Final tomorrow night

It’s been decided that this year there is only going to be a grand final. With low attendance rates from 2 teams, it’s only fair that the Final will be decided between the Mighty Doc Ducks and the Mt Travers Tomtits. One match, no holds barred, winner takes it all.

Match report 12/2/26

The Mighty Doc Ducks had a full squad tonight and with a new Aussie import named Garrett I believe, were looking to squeeze an under strength Tomtits outfit.
With the Sandflies having wet dreams about the incoming inclement weather, it made vision almost impossible for most players. But it still didn’t stop young Seth Judge causing his usual chaos slicing through gaps with his 20 cm waistline. An emergency had Tom Curnow leave the Colosseum early and Jakey Andrew having to take a spot. With the Tomtits starting to pour on points the ducks needed to find some spark and they found it through young gun Monty. Monty has the energy of a Jack Russell that’s just seen a rabbit, with his side to side movements and up-and-down plays he finally found a gap and slipped through to score. It wasn’t Doc‘s only try of night with Leah Harvey proving she’s got a nose for the try line, sliced through for a well taken try. But the score line wasn’t flattering for the ducks outfit, to make matters worse Jacky Andrew noticed the tired defence and through a show and go and sliced through to score on the ho**er.

Final score 12–2 Tomtits

Rainbow Raptors defaulted to the Murchison Moas due to a no show of players.

Match report 18/12/25

What a night down at Eel park for family night with an abundance of future Eels touch players gracing the hollowed turf. With the smell of fast cooked meats, the aroma of Leah Harvey’s baking and the optic nerves glued to the touch footy. We were set for a night.

But unfortunately Rainbow Raptors didn’t get the memo and forgot to front up, with lone wolf
Sean King again left to fly Rainbows flag. Let’s hope that they can find some players for the 2nd half of the season. The Mighty Doc Ducks won’t be complaining tho, with their season right back on track. They will happily take the 2 points and will head into the Xmas break with some wind in their sails.

Final score 10-0 Mighty Doc Ducks

In the 2nd fixture we had the battle of the mountains and what a match this was to be. The Moas had the sandflies behind their backs in the first half and the energy to match it. With a well taken try to Jakey Andrew, who’s game nouse has came on leaps and bounds this season, the Moas were running hot and the Tomtits were struggling to match it. Ryder Solly was next to score slicing through a gap with the precision of an eye surgeon to take the Moas to a 2-1 lead at the break.
The Tomtits had a half time debrief and tried to find some second half energy. With Henry Taylor who has a heart of a lion leading the charge with a well taken try, the Tomtits thought they could muster a comeback. But it was not to be with the Moas having more energy in the tank to score 2 more before the final whistle and take a well deserved win.

Final score 4-2 Mt Murchison Moas

Also it would be remiss of me not to mention the wonderful effort on the BBQ of Anna Curnow and Helena Omlo, an effort that was certainly appreciated by all and all the Mums and kids for coming down to enjoy the evening. Hope everyone has a good festive season and see you back at Eel park on January 15th.
