Thanks everyone that made the time for a grand work party last Sunday.

We got our winch cat groomer together and out of the shed, the loader transitioned from being our summer work horse to now having its snow blade and chains on all ready to clear the road.

We had a great team of 20 plus helpers pick and shift rocks from the cat tracks, lift lines and piste. You know who you are, thanks a bunch for doing some very unglamorous mahi.

A big thank you too, to Nick who has spent days getting the road into great shape and Ron from Findlaters for the use of his excavator.

Tons of other jobs ticked off too numerous to mention but thanks to all involved, club mahi will make 2026 season one to remember.

Keen for a day up the mountain that actually helps get the season off the ground?

The work party is tomorrow — and we could really use a few extra hands.

Still thinking about coming to the work party this Sunday?

This is your reminder to stop thinking and start planning — grab a mate, sort a ride, and come up for the day.

Plenty to get stuck into and it all makes a real difference heading into the season. BBQ at midday (byo food for the BBQ).

SKI SALE -SAVE THE DATE: 7th June

Time to dig the winter gear out.

You know the season’s getting closer when the ski gear starts reappearing from wherever it got stashed last spring…

Skis out of the garage. Boots from the back of the cupboard. Gloves that may or may not still match.

In all seriousness, it’s probably worth checking if your gear actually still fits and your goggles aren’t scratched beyond recognition.

The Rainbow Ski Sale is booked for 7th June and we’d love to see you there!
Save the Date - more details to come.

Rainbow Ski Work Party - 17 May

If you’ve been thinking about coming to a work party for a while, this is your nudge. Get a few of your ski loving mates together and make the effort to come and give us a hand!

There’s a solid list of jobs to get stuck into — rock picking, fence repairs, culvert clearing, signage, and tidying the volunteers’ hut — all key to getting Rainbow ready for the season. No experience needed, just bring warm gear, gloves, sturdy shoes, lunch, and a good attitude (plus a shovel or crowbar if you’ve got one). BBQ fires up at midday, if you want to byo BBQ food.

🚧 Sunday 17 May
🕘 9:00am briefing at the base building

🚗 Nelson/Tasman: Carpool from Lord Rutherford Memorial (Brightwater) at 7:30am
🚗 Marlborough: Drop a meeting spot in the comments and share a ride
Plus you’ll earn your turns while you’re at it — free day passes or a season pass discount for helping out. More info: https://skirainbow.co.nz/volunteer/

Help Make Winter Happen at Rainbow 🌈
With the change in our operating model Rainbow needs your help. This season it’ll run because a bunch of good humans will pitch in and make it happen. With our new club model kicking off, we’re growing the volunteer crew for the season ahead.
There’s a mix of roles, from practical jobs on the hill to helping behind the scenes, so if you’re keen to be part of the action, there’s a spot for you.
❄️ Every 4 hours helping out earns you a ski day
❄️ Stack your credits towards memberships or even a season pass
❄️ Some weekend roles come with the bonus of staying up the mountain
If Rainbow means something to you — this is your chance to be part of keeping it going.

Ever wonder what it takes to get Rainbow spinning for the season? 🌈❄️
It’s not just strapping on skis and turning up one morning. Behind every opening day is months of work: checking lifts, maintaining the groomer, looking after the buildings, maintaining the access road, reviewing health and safety, lining up staff, coordinating volunteers, and keeping everyone in the loop.
It’s a huge team effort, thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
And after all that planning, prep, and hard work… there’s still one final, crucial detail: the weather gods delivering the snow! We can’t control that, but we can be ready when it happens.
So when you hit the hill this winter, know that every turn you make is backed by a mountain of effort .
Want to be part of it? Jump on board at a preseason working bee (keep an eye out for dates) or volunteer during the season.
