Kororareka Waka Ama We are small, social, community-based waka ama club, based in the heart of Kororareka (Russell) Nau mai koutou katoa, no experience necessary!

Wear shorts, sun protection & a fun, positive attitude! We meet near the corner of Pitt St and The Strand, just down from Pompallier. DAYS and TIMES:
JUNIORS - School age, Wednesdays on the water at 5pm, adults at 6pm if enough numbers. ADULTS - Every Sunday on the water at 8am. Please come 15mins earlier to help get the waka ready. Paddles and lifejackets are provided, but if you have your own, p

Nga mihi nui to everyone who supported our Easter fundraiser to help get our three local kaihoe Richard, Rhonda & Henrietta to the World Sprint Champs in Hawai’i this August.

With the awesome turnout of locals and visitors supporting our kaupapa, we were able to exceed our fundraising target of $10k 🙌🏾

Huge thank you to the Russell Lodge for their very generous koha & support, and heartfelt thanks to our waka whanau for all their hard work and organising of the stalls & hangi to make this happen! ❤️

If you are planning to be in the Bay of Islands over Easter (the Brynderwyns section of SH1 is open from 28th Mar - 2nd Apr 😉) come and support our fundraising efforts to send our 3 local paddlers to the World Sprint Champs in Hawai’i this August!

We are having some food stalls this Easter Sunday at 11am in Kororareka (all locally made by our whānaunga) as well as hangi packs, which can be pre-ordered.
