LAKES FC U19 WOMEN READY FOR NATIONAL TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE
Lakes FC is proud to once again send an Under 19 Women's team to the National U19 Tournament in Napier over Labour Weekend.
The tournament is a highlight of the club's football calendar and provides an excellent opportunity for our young players to test themselves against some of the best youth teams in New Zealand.
This year's squad brings together an exciting blend of experience and emerging talent. Several players are returning for their third or fourth tournament, while eight will experience the event for the first time.
The team heads to Napier with a clear ambition to compete, challenge themselves and achieve the best possible results, while recognising that individual development, team growth and the experience gained from competing at this level are equally important measures of success.
The challenge will certainly be significant. Lakes FC has been drawn in an exceptionally competitive pool, with four of the six teams having reached the quarter-finals at last year's tournament. Lakes narrowly missed out on progressing to the knockout stages last year, finishing third in their group. However, this is exactly the type of challenge that helps young players develop.
While the team will be striving for success on the scoreboard, the broader goal is for every player to return from Napier a better footballer, a stronger teammate and more confident in their abilities.
