A huge thank you to Aotearoa Gaming Trust for supporting Geyser City Sports Club with funding towards our new Lakelands Championship playing kits for the 2025/26 season.

Our new blue kits were proudly worn by our Lakelands Championship players throughout the summer and gave the team a fresh new look out on the field.

Playing uniforms are one of those essential but significant costs for community sport clubs, especially with kits needing replacement every few years. Support like this helps us continue providing quality gear for our players while keeping cricket as accessible and affordable as possible.

Thank you for backing grassroots cricket and helping our teams represent Geyser with pride this season.

It was a big weekend for cricket with the announcement of the retirement of Kane Williamson, and so we just want to take a moment to acknowledge what an incredible career he has given our favourite game.

We feel very fortunate that someone of his calibre has been a part of the Geyser story! Beyond everything he has achieved on the field, something that really stands out is his humility, patience, and genuine generosity with his time. For young (and old) players, he has set a standard that goes far beyond runs and records. We were especially lucky to have him present our Club of the Year trophy in 2020, and we still have some great photos from that day that capture exactly the kind of presence he brings.

There will be plenty of well-deserved recognition coming his way, and if his past approach is anything to go by, he’ll take it all with his usual grace and quietly shift the focus back to the team and the people around him. That says everything about the way he has carried himself throughout his career.

Ngā mihi nui Kane, and thank you for everything you’ve given to the game and to our cricket whānau.

A massive thank you to Four Winds Foundation for supporting Geyser City Sports Club with funding towards match balls for the 2025/26 season.

Cricket balls are one of those absolutely essential costs that people don’t always think about - but every single game across the season needs a new ball, and those costs add up really fast across multiple teams and competitions.

So yes… trying to play cricket without cricket balls would be a pretty short game.

Support like this helps keep our teams out on the field each week while keeping the cost of playing community cricket as affordable as possible for our members and whānau.

We really appreciate Four Winds Foundation backing grassroots cricket in our community.

A huge thank you to New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) for supporting Geyser City Sports Club with funding towards the lease costs of our indoor training facility for the 2025/26 season.

Having access to indoor training facilities is hugely important for our players year-round, especially through the colder months and during wet weather. This space gives our members somewhere to continue training, developing skills, and staying connected through the off-season.

A reminder to all Geyser members that the nets are available free for member use year-round for training sessions.

We also welcome external bookings - if you’re interested in booking the indoor lane, please send us a DM for more information.

A massive congratulations to Alex Roy on being named in the Netherlands National Team today!!!

Alex joined us for the 2023/24 season as one of our overseas players, and was a man full of talent, professionalism, and passion for our sport. To now see him reach the international stage is something we are SO incredibly proud of as a club.

It is going to be awesome watching this next chapter unfold for you Alex. The whole Geyser whānau will be cheering you on from back here in little ol' Rotorua, New Zealand.

A huge thank you to Pub Charity Limited for supporting Geyser City Sports Club with funding towards our annual accounting fees and Xero & Microsoft subscriptions for another year.

This support helps us take care of the off-field numbers game, so our players can focus on the ones that matter out on the field.

By keeping essential operational costs covered, we’re able to keep player subscriptions more affordable and continue reducing barriers to community sport.

SERVICE UPDATE FROM THE MCKNIGHT FAMILY

In lieu of a funeral there will be a celebration of Leon's life on Thursday 21st May at 3pm at the CT Club on Moncur Drive. All are welcome!

It’s with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of one of our founding members, Leon McKnight.

Right now, we don’t really have the words.

Leon was a huge part of our club’s story and our thoughts are with the entire McKnight whānau at this incredibly difficult time.

We know many of our members, past and present, will be feeling this loss deeply. We’ll share further information when appropriate.
