Great achievement Jayden and

Youth Fly Fishing Development Camp and Trial in Hawke’s Bay.

Jayden Moore has been selected as a member of the Fly Fishing New Zealand Youth Development Squad, and this weekend’s camp and trial form part of the selection process for the New Zealand Youth Team. If successful, he may have the opportunity to represent New Zealand at the Youth Fly Fishing Championships in Slovakia next year 2027 for NZ.

We are incredibly proud of Jayden and the dedication he has shown towards a sport he is truly passionate about. This is a fantastic opportunity.

-Happy national volunteer week!-

This week, we celebrate the thousands of volunteers across Aotearoa who generously give their time, skills, and passion to make a difference in their communities.

At Eastern Region Fish & Game, we are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteer honorary rangers who help protect and promote our hunting and fishing resources. Alongside them, our volunteer councilors play a vital role in guiding and supporting the work we do throughout the region.

To each of these individuals – and to every volunteer across New Zealand – thank you. Your commitment, hard work, and willingness to give back have a lasting impact, often behind the scenes and without recognition.

Volunteers are at the heart of many organisations and services we rely on every day. From conservation groups and community charities to emergency services, rescue teams, and healthcare support organisations; volunteers help strengthen and enrich our communities.

If you've ever considered getting involved, there are countless worthwhile organisations looking for helping hands. Every contribution, big or small, can make a real difference.

This National Volunteer Week, join us in thanking the volunteers who help make our communities stronger, safer, and more connected. 👏

Fishing is best done with friends and family. This father and son duo were headed for the Ngongotaha Stream to spend some quality time together. Wonderful to see.

We are pleased to again host and support Malcom and Linda, running the Kiwi Avoidance Training at our site at Rotorua on the weekend of 6th & 7th of June. 🌳🐕

This training is a great way to teach our dogs to avoid kiwi when we are in areas where they live.

If you would like to run your dog through this training, click the link below to check for vacancies and book in!
