Worth a read!
I will put the link in my comments if you'd like to complete a submission 😊.
What follows is something I am deeply passionate about, and something I know many of you are too.
I stand to gain nothing from this post other than creating awareness for the wider public, and hopefully reinforcement that I wish to continue to advocate for our own health and wellbeing autonomy, and to not let an incomprehensible and frightening bill be passed through government.
It was announced a few weeks ago that the government wishes to put a Bill through parliamentary legislation called the ‘Therapeutic Products Bill’.
Essentially this bill sees hundreds of natural supplements and compounds threatened by the restriction to big companies and only available via doctor’s prescriptions.
This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Vitamin C, Aloe Vera (even in your garden), Cinnamon, Fish Oil, Vitamin B12, Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium, Lavendar, Oats, Thyme (even in your garden), Ginger, Glutamine, Chaste Tree, Echinacea, Turmeric, Soy, Probiotics, Cranberry, Licorice, Garlic, Flaxseed Oil, Cocoa, Tea (yes, TEA!!), Celery, Vitamin D, Psyllium, Quercetin, Rosemary… and so many more!
This is not made up.
This is very very real.
Supplements have estimated to be 45,000 times safer than pharmaceuticals. This is not saying we don’t need pharmacological drugs and interventions - but we’re just trying to highlight that this isn’t because these products aren’t safe.
Fifty percent of all kiwis use some kind of natural supplement to HELP their health and vitality, and to PREVENT them from suffering future health and wellbeing woes.
Natural supplements are PREVENTATIVE products that can contribute significantly to positively promoting health and wellbeing, as well as to reducing future sickness, pain and disease.
The things that aren’t on the list and that will continue to be unregulated are things we know to DRIVE disease such as sugar, additives, preservatives, vegetable oils, and many other compounds that have been PROVEN to be cancer causing.
🤯🤯😱😱🤯🤯
I just don’t get how this Bill is even something that is up for discussion. When our health and wellbeing is already so challenged, and our health system overrun, we should be PROMOTING the use of natural supplements - not making them less available by making them strictly regulated by the medical realm.
Our people, our world isn’t sick from a lack of medical intelligence, it’s sick because of a removal from living naturally, organically, and via utilisation of the very things that are our natural medicine - things grown and consumed ‘untouched’ from the Earth ie the greatness of food, herbs, and other plant-derived compounds.
I personally cannot come to any kind of a rational answer as to how this legislation will improve the health of New Zealanders. Because ultimately, that is what this should be about, shouldn’t it…? We certainly cannot blame our level of pain, illness and disease on taking natural supplements. If anything, it’s quite the opposite - more of us should be taking the very supplements relevant to our own needs.
☀️ Vitamin C, Ginger, Echinacea when we’re feeling run down or unwell
☀️ Vitamin D in the winter when natural sources are lower
☀️ Quercetin to calm histamine responses
☀️ Fish Oils to promote better reproductive hormones and healthier joints
☀️Magnesium to help better sleep and lessen muscle tension
These are just some of the things we’ll no longer be able to do if this Bill goes through. It just seems so wrong to me.
If this is something that you too feel strongly about I encourage you to share this post, and definitely complete a submission form (link in comments).
Let’s stand for our own health and wellbeing autonomy, for our ability to choose to utilise natural supplements where we wish to or where we’re guided to, and to not allowing anyone take away one of the most sacred prerogatives we have for creating and guiding our own healthy futures xx
(This post is to raise awareness for all those currently unaware. I welcome healthy inquiry or concern, or addition of valid and relevant points. Please keep it on the topic of natural supplements and their accessibility 🙏).
