NOTICE: The Rotorua AWA Sports Club AGM. Friday 29th May 2026. Okere Falls Store. 6 pm. Election of Officers, Presidents Report, Annual Accounts. Followed by a General Meeting.

Everyone is welcome. Come and have a burger and beer and let us know your ideas about the club going forward. We'd love to see you there.

We had our first club paddle for 2026 the at Aniwhenua today. Twelve paddlers turned up from AWA, Kaimai and the Whakatane crew with 4 beginners who had a great time.

Thanks to everyone for coming. It was great to see Terry Lasenby after completing his impressive Te Areta trail.

CHAMPIONS RACE RESULTS

Thanks to everyone for coming. Another great night. Many thanks to Greg and Okere Falls Store for providing the finish line and beers. The burgers were good too.

Women's champion - the ladies put up an impressive performance with Martina first, Les second and P**i third. Martina had the 6th fastest time overall.

Men's champion - George first. Sam second and Jure third.

Thanks to everyone for coming - it's our favourite race of the year.

Kia ora paddlers, we hope your having a great time out on the water and getting ready for the Wairoa Extreme Race.

We have the Champions race coming up on March 20th, with a nice little addition of a junior section- under 16 years. Details to come over the next few weeks.

Just a reminder - club subs are due now. $15 for an individual and $20 for a family.

Our paddlers have have great results over the last year and we are stoked to continue to support them as much as possible with boats, equipment, training, water fees and entry fees.

Your memebrship fees help us to keep doing this and allow us to run our Summer Series community races. We really appreciate your continued support.

A big heads up to Western Heights Pharmacy and Cam and Julie Monthieth for their continued support of the club and generous donations. We hope you'll support their business in return.

Thanks to the boys at NZWW for providing the awesome programmes last year and their wonderful team of coaches who run the Wahine on White Water programmes for us - for both our senior and junior womens groups.

Many thanks to Sport Bay of Plenty and Lukka Jones for their continued support and opportunity for funding our mahi. This funding really helps us provide unique opportunities to our local Tamariki.

Aniwhenua Christmas Paddle. Saturday 6th December. Meet at the put in at 10.30. This is a great beginner/novice paddle. It would be fantastic to have a good support crew.

Cancellation: Tonights time trial - 14th November has been cancelled as the river is on open gates. We look forward to organising another date and will keep you posted.

The AWA Enduro scheduled for Saturday 15 November is cancelled.

We didn’t reach the entry numbers needed to run this event. Thanks to those who entered and those who offered to help. Full refunds have been processed this today.

We still have paddling on:

Club Time Trial – Friday 14 November
• Sign-in from 5.30 pm
• First start 6.00 pm
• BBQ and beers afterwards
• Bring your boat, and a mate

All welcome. Please share with your crews and paddling friends.we look forward to seeing you all there.
