π Instructor of the Month - Caitlin B. π
This month we're celebrating Caitlin, one of our amazing swim instructors. Caitlin has a real talent for building relationships with swimmers and their families, helping children feel comfortable in the water and confident in their abilities. Her enthusiasm, patience, and genuine care for her students make her a valued member of our Swim School team.
Let's get to know Caitlin a little better!
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into teaching swimming?
A: Hi! π My name is Caitlin. I'm probably best described as a bit of a nerd, a geek, and unapologetically myself.
When I first jumped into the pool for my introductory lesson, something just clicked. I've always loved the water, and being able to help my students develop that same love and confidence in the water is incredibly rewarding.
Q: What do you love most about being a swim instructor?
A: Building rapport with both the children and their caregivers is one of my favourite parts of the job. I love a good chat and enjoy creating a fun, positive environment where kids can learn and grow. Being able to spend my day in the water, having fun while helping children build their confidence and swimming skills, is something I genuinely love.
Q: What is your favourite stroke and why?
A: Butterfly has always been my favourite stroke. It's such a powerful and beautiful stroke to watch, and there's something almost mesmerising about it. I may not have the stamina to swim it for long these days, but it's still my favourite!
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: I'm a proud nerd at heart. Most of my free time is spent painting miniatures, playing board games, video games, role-playing games, or getting lost in a good fantasy world. I also spend plenty of time with my two cats, Wall-E and Buddy, who are convinced they're in charge of the household.
When I'm convinced to leave the house, I'm often out playing PokΓ©mon GO ( !) or spending time with friends. Whether I'm in the water or rolling dice around a table, I love activities that bring people together and create memorable experiences.
Q: What is your top piece of advice for anyone looking to become a better swimmer?
A: Confidence goes a long way. Be willing to give things a go, put your best effort into every lesson, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Keep trying, keep learning, and you'll be amazed at how far you can go.
Have you had Caitlin as an instructor before? We'd love to hear what makes her lessons special! ππ
