We’re a wee whanau here at our karate club. Some of our members were nervous and apprehensive when they first joined, but they’ve since made friends for life. All are welcome to join, all we ask is that you bring enthusiasm and respect for the martial art!

Strong effort tonight, team! 🥋
What a session at JKA Rolleston. Lots of sweat, smiles, and sharp focus as our students pushed hard prepping for the next grading.

From white belts nailing their first kata to more senior grades fine‑tuning kumite timing, the dojo energy was unreal. Big kiai, big improvements, and even bigger spirit. Oss!

Grading countdown is on 📅
Keep turning up, keep polishing those basics, and trust the work you’re putting in. Sensei saw some real breakthroughs tonight.

Parents — thanks for bringing the kids and fueling the canteen banter.
Students — rest up, hydrate, and we’ll see you next class ready to level up.

Another high energy night from the JKA Rolleston team at West Rolleston Primary School.

Sweat, spirit, and plenty of kiai — our JKA dojo was buzzing. Thanks to everyone who brought the energy and helped push each other through basics, kumite drills, and new katas.

Who’s keen for some karate in 2026?? We’ve already got heaps of enthusiastic people signed up! Plenty of absolute beginners, plus some yellow, orange, green & blue belts to help motivate and encourage the newcomers! All ages (6-96) welcomed!
Its very affordable, and teaches so many valuable skills
