Smiles all round! The team has boosted through the rest of their stage 8 trek and did the stage 9 bike in just 3 hours! Thanks to their hasty speed and a dodgy tracker, us support crew may have turned up to their TA8 later than the team... But we've won them back with burgers and beers at TA9 and now they're onto the kayak 🚣 they will likely get dark zoned and camp on the river for a nice long night's sleep before the final push up the coast tomorrow 🌅

Running on empty 😴 these chaps had a quick transition after their overnight bike and have begun their 55km trek into the Takitimu mountains. They missed the 6am deadline so have been short coursed onto a quicker route, mostly on tracks. The sleep deprivation seems to be setting in at this point...who will be the first to start hallucinating??

Stage 5 completed! The team arrived at about 8pm last night to the Borland Saddle. Unfortunately Levi has decided to pull out due to a hamstring injury making hiking and biking rather unpleasant. He's doing ok and may be able to join the team further down the line with some kayaking. Jess, Jesse and Adam have had to skip the trek/packrafting section as the rule book says you can't have 3 packrafting, so they had an enforced night's sleep at CP19 and are back into the trek. The team are therefore unranked but can continue the course.

Stage 3 is underway! The team had a pretty speedy transition and after just 2 hours of sleep set off on their trek up Mount Titiroa. There was a dusting of snow on the summit overnight so hopefully they can keep their eyelids open for the incredible scenery! They will make their way down to Lake Manapouri for a packraft later on in the day 🚣
