The Presidents Grade team enjoyed a good win 36-5 over Waikiwi in sunny conditions yesterday on club day.

With an extended bench and a few faces making their first appearance for the season it meant plenty of fresh legs rolling on and off throughout the 60 minutes. This meant for some free flowing rugby with chips up the sideline and some good offloads through the middle.

It was great to host both Waikiwi teams on Club Day yesterday and their support was greatly appreciated.

Club Day tomorrow with a full day of rugby kicking off with the Rippa and Year 3/4 Tackle at 11.

The two senior games sees a double header vs Waikiwi with the Riversdale Hotel Presidents Grade team kicking off at 1.30pm and the Andrews Transport/Waikaka Transport Vikings following at 3pm.

With the first home game of the season for the Presidents Grade team this sees ample players lining up with plenty of impact to come in the second half.

Sponsors and Life Members are invited into the club rooms from 1.30pm to enjoy afternoon tea and refreshments.

We look forward to hosting a full day of rugby and seeing the sidelines and club rooms packed.

Riversdale Rugby Club would like to invite all sponsors and life members to Club Day on the 6th June. A full day of rugby from the Year 0-2 grades at 11am through to the Vikings at 3pm.

Unfortunately the Riversdale presidents grade team had a close lose 15-14 against Albion on Saturday, Tries to Scott Weller and Tim Hinton. Scooter added 2 conversions and also took the player of the day. The team is looking forward to Club day where they get to play there first game at home.

The Riversdale Hotel Riversdale Presidents Grade team take the trip into Gore this week to take on Albion.
The team is looking strong for another away game before the Kings Birthday weekend break.
Following Kings Birthday see's the team have four home games in a row with Club, Sponsors and Life Members Day on the 6th June (more information to come) with a double header vs Waikiwi along with the Vikings.

The Riversdale Presidents Grade team unfortunately went down to Waikaia 15-10 this afternoon. With two pieces of silver wear on the line the Riversdale team was up for the challenge against arguably the top Presidents grade team of the last 15-20 years.

A 10-10 half time score after tries to Scooter and Matt meant the game was evenly balanced heading into the second half, Waikaia were more than up for the second half with some big shots coming in from then and they managed to get the win 15-10.

Hopefully we get to see them again later in the season.

The Riversdale boys take the 24km journey up the road on Saturday to take on Waikaia.

A game that has been years in the making and is the topic of conversation within the district this game is sure to not disappoint.

Riversdale will be looking to get their hands on the Ardlussa Cup again along with keeping the Peter Robertson Memorial Trophy which has been in the trophy cabinet for some time.

It’s a game that you don’t want to miss so fill a car load and head up to support the black and white as they take on the boys up the Valley.

Yesterday saw Matthew “Tinga” Tayles play his 100th game in Riversdale colours.

A Riversdale man through and through Tinga played his junior rugby at the club before going off to Southland Boys and Lincoln. Upon his return to the family farm in 2014 he slotted straight into the Riversdale senior team at tight head prop. After a short OE in 2015 he was back in 2016 where for the next 6 years was a first pick in the front row along with captaining the team in 2018.

Stuck on 99 games for the last 4 years he plied his trade up the valley in Waikaia. With the jubilee next year and talk of a Presidents Grade team in Riversdale Tinga has been a driving force over the last 18 months to get the team organised and on the paddock. Captain, Coach and selector this year for the Presidents Grade team he has spent countless hours on the phone and behind the desk making sure everyone is registered and ready to play.

A true club man in every sense Tinga is the first to help out at fundraisers and has been one of the main helpers at the trail ride bringing his own side by side up year after year to help the club.

Congratulations Tinga on a great milestone!
