We are back home 🎉

This week the boys are taking on Riverton on home turf. Kick off is 3pm.
Let’s fill up that grandstand and show the boys our support. ⚪️🟢⚫️

The Vikings put in their best performance of the season against an unbeaten Wyndham side unfortunately going down in the 80th minute 22-17.

The Vikings started off the game strongly making meters up the middle and then going wide where Junior and Charlie were finding meters. The team got out to an 17-0 lead before Wyndham created phases and worked there way to score a try just before half time with the Vikings leading at the break 17-7.

The second half saw Wyndham spend a large portion on attack and the Vikings defence held strong for long periods of play. With 8 minutes to go Wyndham drew level at 17 all and after a yellow card to a Vikings player managed to find their way onto attack and scored in the 80th minute to take the win.

The Vikings have been building all season with a number of young players in their first season of Division 1 rugby and today they stood up and showed that they are more than capable of footing it with the best in the competition.

Josh played an outstanding game carrying strong and being everywhere on defence, he was supported by his locking partner Sam who controlled the lineouts and put his body on the line in every collision. Charlie showed his pace out wide at every opportunity and he is a great asset to have in the team and playing for his local club on his uni holidays.

We wish Wyndham all the best for the rest of their season as they showed for the full 80 minutes the quality side that they are and why they are unbeaten at the top of the table.

Hope everyone has recovered from last weeks festivities in Riversdale 🎉

Back to business.. The boys are heading down to Wyndham. Get a group together and make an afternoon of it. Kick off is at 3pm. The boys will need your support for this one.

The Vikings went down in a hard fought battle against a strong Waikiwi side in near perfect conditions for Riversdale’s club day.

The Vikings had the wind and sun at their back in the first half but it was Waikiwi who opened the scoring. Ill discipline from the Vikings gifted Waikiwi meters down the paddock and they got out to a deserved early lead. The Vikings scored a couple back to go into half time 19-15 down.

The second half saw the lead continuously change hands, Luke got a penalty with 4 mins to go to take the lead 35-33. Unfortunately the kick off was knocked on which allowed Waikiwi to work phases and score to take the deserved win 40-35.

Captain Luke was rock solid on defence and carried the ball strongly into the line each time. He was well supported by Bokser who got through his usual high work rate with numerous turnovers and being the first to put his hand up to carry the ball and organise the defensive line. Toby didn’t slow down for 80 minutes and was everywhere over the paddock.

Full credit to a strong Waikiwi side, thanks for your support on Club Day, it was great to see a sideline packed from both sides supporters and also have the opportunity to play alongside your Presidents Grade team away from home. Good luck for the rest of your season as you push towards a top 4 spot.

Riversdale/Waikaka Vikings and the Riversdale rugby club invite all sponsors to celebrate the club and what they have achieved this year.

Div 1 boys take on Waikiwi and they will be looking for the win after the hard fought game in round one down at Waikiwi.
