World Surf League has been granted a temporary exclusion zone at Manu Bay for the 2026 Championship Tour in Raglan. The purpose of this zone is to ensure safe and predictable separation of competitors from other vessels.

The zone will be in effect from 14-25 May, from 7.00am to 5.00pm while the event is underway.

Only authorised vessels will be allowed within this zone, which will be enforced by NZ Police and Harbourmaster staff.

As a result, viewing of the event is best done from shore.

Manu bay/raglan bar cameras (and surf cameras I believe) are out of action due to no power/renovations at there location. Looks like they will be back online later next week.

Have a great long weekend πŸ€™

πŸ”₯ Juniors on the Wharf – Results Are In! πŸ”₯

What an epic day down at the wharf! A massive turnout of 83 kids came along to take part in our Juniors on the Wharf event, proudly supported by Burnsco and West Coast Plumbing and Gas. The wharf was packed with smiles, fishing rods, and plenty of excitement from start to finish 🎣

We had 11 spot prizes handed out across the day, plus an incredible kids kayak up for grabs, generously donated by West Coast Plumbing and Gas – an absolute highlight!

πŸ† Heaviest Fish Results:
πŸ₯‡ 1st Overall – Ayden Tandy – 0.78kg Snapper
πŸ‘‰ The only legal snapper of the day, and even better… it was Ayden’s first time fishing! How cool is that!

πŸ₯ˆ 2nd Overall – Kade Fraser – 0.15kg Kahawai

πŸ₯‰ 3rd Overall – Theo Roberton – 0.13kg Yellow Eyed Mullet

🌟 Most Meritorious Catch
Jamie Oldin – 0.01kg Starfish (proof that anything can happen on the wharf πŸ˜‚)

🎁 Kayak Winner
Natalie Waitere – huge congrats, we hope you enjoy many fishing adventures ahead!

A big shoutout again to Burnsco Hamilton for backing the event, and to West Coast Plumbing and Gas for their amazing support and generous kayak donation. Also a huge thanks to all the families who came down and made it such a fun, community-focused day.

These events are what it’s all about – getting kids outdoors, learning new skills, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. We can’t wait to do it all again next year! πŸ™Œ

If you’ve been hearing bits and pieces about the Fisheries Amendment Bill but haven’t had time to dig into it, this breaks it down clearly.

The Raglan Sport Fishing Club is fully in support of raising awareness around this issue and encouraging our community to have their say.

This Bill shifts control of our fisheries away from the public and towards commercial interests, weakens environmental protections, and reduces transparency around what’s actually happening at sea.

It also opens the door to more dumping, less monitoring, and decisions being made with less public input β€” while prioritising export value over feeding New Zealanders.

Once this is locked in, it’s not something we can easily unwind. This is one of those moments where speaking up really matters.

Submissions are open now and close 29 April. Take a few minutes, have your say, and help push back on this.

Kill the Bill.

πŸ”₯ Juniors on the Wharf 2026 – Lucky Angler prize! πŸ”₯

The Raglan Sport Fishing Club is proud to have the incredible support of West Coast Plumbing & Gas for this year’s Juniors on the Wharf!
They are supplying a kids kayak as a Lucky Angler Prize πŸŽ‰ β€” giving one lucky junior the chance to hit the water in style!
This is what makes our junior event so special.

It’s not just about the fishing β€” it’s about creating opportunities, building confidence, and getting kids excited about the outdoors. Support from local businesses like West Coast Plumbing & Gas helps us make these events bigger and better every year.

πŸ“… Easter Saturday – 4th April
πŸ“ Raglan Wharf
πŸ•š Registration: 11:00am
