Programme your lower body compounds lifts better if you want to get stronger.

Squats, Hipthrusts, Deadlifts.

Big lifts that we can go heavy on and can use to improve lower body/ overall strength.

I don't recommend doing more than 8 reps on working sets of these exercises as they demand a lot of energy, when we can use that energy toward going heavier and improving strength.

It doesn't mean that doing 10+ reps is wrong, there's just alternative exercises out there that are less overall fatiguing where we can go higher on reps if we want to stress particular muscles or focus on endurance.

2026 Races:

Motatapu 52km - 10hr15min (horrendous day 😅)
Christchurch Marathon - 3hr19min (6min pb)
Southern Lakes Half Marathon- 1hr28min (1min pb)

Been 4 weeks since my last race and the running volume has drastically decreased. This is very necessary mentally and physically. I love running but I still need to take a bit of a break from it to keep it enjoyable. It's a lot of stress and fatigue on the body when you're 90kg+ so changing the training for a couple months will be very beneficial.

I'm lining up a 100km race toward the end of this year. I'll start building the running in July so I peak appropriately for this huge race.

If you're getting in to running and need a hand with programming yourself, holla at me. I've been there and done that many times.

Running programming and supplementary strength programming is what I specialize in.
