🏆 Superchamps Day 4 Wrap-Up | Franklin Squash Club
What a day for Franklin! Day 4 produced some outstanding squash, with three strong team performances and one side earning the chance to play for a Superchamps pennant.
Our Men's D team edged out Eden Epsom 3-2 in a thrilling encounter. Chase Baranyai came through an epic five-set battle, Nick Anderson continued his impressive tournament with another win, and Matthew Riley delivered a composed straight-games victory to secure the tie. A fantastic team performance under pressure that keeps their tournament alive.
The Men's C side also finished their campaign on a high with a 3-2 win over Henderson. David Rapson showed incredible grit to win a five-game marathon, while Rajeev Verma and Callum Beals added the crucial victories to complete another excellent result for Franklin.
The stars of the day, however, were our C Grade Women's team. Kylie Cooper, Virginija Werder, Shona Wharepapa Hagan and Vanessa Addy all recorded impressive wins in a dominant 4-1 victory over Eden Epsom, continuing their fantastic form throughout the tournament and booking their place in tomorrow's pennant decider.
Our Men's E team also gave it everything against a very strong North Shore side. John Albao picked up an excellent straight-games victory, while the rest of the team fought hard in some tough matches. Although the result didn't go Franklin's way, the effort and spirit shown throughout the tournament has been something to be proud of.
Tomorrow it's all on the line. Our C Grade Women's team will travel to Royal Oak to take on the hosts for the Superchamps Pennant.
It's a huge opportunity to cap off an outstanding week of squash, and we know they'll have the full support of everyone back at Franklin.
Good luck to our C Grade Women's team. The entire Franklin Squash Club is behind you—go out there, enjoy the occasion, and bring that pennant home! 🖤🧡 💪
