Athletic Development gives the athlete the physical capabilities and capacity to sustain the training and gameplay demands, allowing them to improve the technical and tactical elements of their game.
The athletic development model helps individuals become well-rounded athletes in their sport. This means better movement efficiency, coordination, strength, fitness, and mobility.
If an individual cannot train at a high level or intensity because they lack the necessary physical capacity, they are limiting their ability to improve in their sport.

What Is the Athletic Development Program?

At J2, the ADP isn’t just about developing better athletes, it’s about creating a safe, supportive environment where youth athletes can grow both physically and mentally. We’re dedicated to making sure they train the right way, with proper guidance, individualised programming, and a focus on long-term success.
We also focus on building character. Through their time in the ADP, athletes learn the importance of accountability, respect, and hard work qualities that extend far beyond sport. Our goal is to see them leave not only as better athletes but as role models in their communities and better versions of themselves.

What’s Included in the ADP?

* Regular performance testing to track progress.
* Individualised, Periodised gym programming delivered via a training app.
* 3 x weekly coached sessions in a group setting. (Pre-set times)
* Access to J2 gym facilities during ADP sessions.
* Sport-specific and tailored off-feet and on-feet conditioning.
* J2 100-point recovery system for optimised performance.
* Exclusive J2 merch, LSKD, and supplement discounts.

Youth athletes are playing and training at higher intensities and frequencies than ever before. However, early specialisation has been shown to increase injury risk in young athletes and does not guarantee future success.
A well balanced approach incorporating a variety of sports and structured training while managing overall load can help reduce this risk. Building strong foundations and movement efficiency should be the priority in youth athletic development.

At J2 Athletic Performance, we teach young athletes how to move efficiently, build strength, and train in a way that supports their growing bodies. Through proper technique, individualised programming, and smart progressions, we help them develop the skills and resilience needed for long term success in sport.
