🖤💙U13s Compete in Global Games NZ Rugby Tournament with Pride, Mana, Kaha & Heart 💙🖤
What a weekend for our Team of the Year, U13 squad!
The team travelled to Taupo to compete in the Global Games New Zealand Junior Rugby Festival where they finished 9th in a very strong competition, but the final placing only tells part of the story. They were competitive in every game, improved with each outing and showed incredible heart, pride and determination. They never gave up and left everything on the field.
More importantly, they grew together as a team. They supported one another, celebrated each other, picked each other up and played for each other. By the end of the weekend, they were more than a rugby team — they were a whānau.
Their 4.4/5 sportsmanship rating, based on feedback from players and referees throughout the tournament, was a fantastic achievement and one of the real highlights of the weekend. They showed that you can compete hard and play tough while still showing respect, humility and mana.
A huge thank you to the coaches Azza, Muzz and Douglas, who worked tirelessly throughout the tournament. Their positive encouragement, belief and feedback brought out the best in the players and helped the team grow with every game. And extra big thanks to “Team Mum” and Manager, Kim for all her support through the tournament
💙And then there was their haka (Video to come)🖤
Watching the team perform before their final game was a truly special moment — full of pride, unity and mana, and a fitting way to finish an incredible weekend.
Off the field, the team were just as impressive, looking after each other, having plenty of laughs and representing the club proudly.
A massive thank you to all the parents and whānau who travelled to support the team, and to everyone back home whose support was felt throughout the weekend.
There has been a huge amount of work behind the scenes to get this team to the tournament, and it was absolutely worth it.
What a team. What a tournament. What a weekend.
