As you will now be aware, the government has moved our region into Covid-19 Alert Level 4 until at least 11.59pm on Friday 20th August 2021.

Due to this, Capital Football has made the following decisions:

• As per Sport New Zealand’s Alert Level 4 guidelines, all football-related activities, including team trainings, are unable to go ahead at Alert Level 4. You can train at home or outdoor places, but only with those in your bubble.
• All Capital Football senior and youth football is postponed this weekend, with a decision on what games can be played at a later date to be made once Capital Football has had a chance to liaise with the relevant councils around ground availability.
• New Zealand Football are yet to make a call on the Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup, as well as the Central League (an NZF-run competition) fixture between North Wellington and Wainuiomata, for this weekend, but they are expected to provide an update tomorrow, Wednesday 18 August.
• All junior football is cancelled this weekend.
• All futsal is cancelled tonight, August 17, with a decision to be made on next Tuesday’s games by Monday, August 23.
• The Girls with Goals festival on Sunday, August 22 is cancelled.

These decisions have been made with the best interests of the football community at heart and to provide certainty to all for this weekend.

You should have received an email from the club but just in case you missed it here is the latest again.

We hope our Football community is all staying safe and well in their respective bubbles as we move this week into Level 3 of the Covid-19 panademic.

At Level 3 contact team sports such as football is unable to be played, and as yet Sport NZ and the Government have not completed the documentation of what sports may be able to recommence under Level 2 and in what format. This information is due for release around the 1st of May and that point we hope to have more guidance and direction moving forward and decisions can be made at Federation level for Clubs to follow.

We will provide more information to you as soon as we have it to hand. Please be rest assured that the Western Suburbs Board is working hard with Capital Football to ensure that every opportunity for the 2020 season to occur is being worked through. As there is every likelihood that the season will be extended this work includes negotiations with both summer sports and councils to assist in extending the time frames for ground availability.
Should the season be run at a reduced schedule, we will work with Capital football to reassess fees accordingly.

Community football postponement extended until at least Queen’s Birthday weekend.

New Zealand Football and the seven Federations have announced that the community football postponement has been extended until at least Queen’s Birthday Weekend (Saturday 30 May 2020), due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the country still in Alert Level 4, the extended postponement gives the football community new guidance on when NZF aims to resume play, providing it’s safe to do so.

• Community football, including junior, youth, senior and social competitions – start postponed until at least 30 May

• Community futsal including junior, youth, senior and social competitions – start postponed until at least 30 May

• National Futsal Tournaments scheduled in June and July have been cancelled – including the Youth Futsal Championships. All other national tournaments remain under review

• Workshops and courses, including coaching and refereeing – all postponed until at least 30 May

All team training should be suspended until 16 May, or two weeks prior to the start of the season.

NZF is delighted with the football community’s responsible attitude under lockdown, and is sharing resources to help players stay fit, work on their skills and keep entertained at www.nzfootball.co.nz and on social media.

Welcome to the official website for NZ Football.

One of the most often asked questions we get is "what type of boots should I get?" This can be confusing at times as there are multiple types of football boots available from different brands who often use different descriptions for their products. Couple of simple rules that you can apply when looking at getting new boots: a) they will only last one season before the kids grow out of them so durability is not a big issue and, b) We are very lucky in NZ in that our pitches are normally very good and not too muddy. I always recommend that you look for boots that are a good fit (some brands like Adidas tend to be narrow and Nike is normally a wider fit) and that the sole plate is designed for "multi-ground" or "flexible ground" use. So not a Soft-Ground or Firm/Hard Ground studs, rather "multi-ground" as they tend to work well on the NZ pitches including artificial turf which we sometimes play on. You can find good bargains online if you know your size or likes of Rebel Sports or Football Central in Wellington are good places to go and try things out. Two good examples of a "multi-ground" boots are these: https://tinyurl.com/tdhbgvp and https://tinyurl.com/sfcy9sh Happy shopping and please let us know if you have any questions !

Find the Nike Jr. Mercurial V***r 13 Club MG Younger/Older Kids' Multi-Ground Football Boot at Nike.com. Free delivery and returns on select orders.
