Our deepest sympathies go out to Sarah and family.

It is with great sadness that the New Zealand Jet Sport Boating Association acknowledges the passing of James Taylor.

James was a valued member of our jet sport community, serving on the NZJSBA Committee last year and contributing his time and expertise as Technical Director at our National Championships. His commitment, knowledge, and willingness to support the sport were greatly appreciated by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

James's contribution to jet sport boating extended far beyond the roles he held. He was a respected member of our community whose presence, dedication, and friendship will be deeply missed.

On behalf of the NZJSBA Executive, member clubs, riders, officials, and volunteers throughout New Zealand, we extend our heartfelt condolences to James's family, friends, and all those affected by his passing.
Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Rest easy, James.

Thank you for your contribution to our sport and the legacy you leave behind.

Hi all, the weather looks good tomorrow, so a couple of us are going for a ride tomorrow morning, departing from Evans Bay around 9am. If you want to tag along, let us know we can meet up at Seaview if you useing that ramp.

We have had quite a number of new members recently which is fantastic! I have had some of those new members reach out to ask about social rides and when our next ones are.
Currently, we are working on dates for these (logistics) but if you are keen to get out there with others, and you weren't aware, there is the local Wellington Jetski rides group. (link to their page)
They typically organise a monthly ride (usually the first weekend) advertised through their page.
So if you are keen to know more about it, get in touch with them through their FB page.

Two weeks on from Nationals… and what a weekend it was. 🙌

From a buzzing shoreline to a full-on race village, it’s hard to believe this all came together in just a few days.

Massive thanks again to:
đź’Ą Our riders who brought the action
đź’Ą Our volunteers who made it run smoothly
đź’Ą Our sponsors and supporters who backed the event
đź’Ą And everyone who came down to be part of it

Events like this don’t just happen, they are built by a community.

Now the beach is quiet again… but we’re already looking ahead to what’s next 👀

🏆 NZJSBA Rider of the Year 2026 🏆
🔥 Ollie Hutchby

This one is all about performance and Ollie has delivered in a big way.

Across the season and at Nationals, Ollie has shown skill, consistency, and determination at the highest level. When it mattered most, he stepped up, pushed hard, and proved himself as one of the top riders in the country.

Rider of the Year recognises excellence on the water and Ollie has absolutely earned it đź’Ą

Massive respect for the effort, focus, and results 👏

💙 Congratulations to Ollie Hutchby – NZJSBA Rider of the Year 2026

🏆 Recognising Excellence at Nationals 🏆

At the NZJSBA Nationals Prizegiving, we didnt just celebrate results on the water, we also recognise the people who make our sport what it is.

Each year, two special awards are presented:
✨ Person of the Year
🔥 Rider of the Year

These awards aren’t decided lightly.

Nominations are put forward by our committees, and the final recipients are voted on, recognising those who have made a genuine impact, both on and off the water, throughout the season.

It’s about more than wins…
It’s about dedication, contribution, and the people who help drive our sport forward.
Please join me in congratulating our NZJSBA Person of the Year 2026 for this year....

👏 Carl Lampe Snr

Some people don’t do it for recognition…
They just show up, time and time again, and give everything they’ve got.

Carl is one of those people.

He has been part of this sport for years, quietly contributing, supporting events, helping others, and doing whatever needs to be done. The kind of person who is always there… but rarely in the spotlight.

And that’s exactly why this award matters.

Because without people like Carl, this sport simply wouldn’t be what it is today.

This is a moment to recognise the dedication, the consistency, and the countless hours that often go unseen.

👏 Carl, this one is truly deserved.

đź’™ Congratulations on being named NZJSBA Person of the Year 2026
