What a fabulous morning for our new Hot Shots Interclub team, Ngati Toa Storm!

Today was a make-up for a rained off match earlier in the tournament, against Otaki Fire. Storm won this on a games count back, 30-28!!! We are waiting on official results to see where they end up on the table.

It has been an incredible season for them. They began their interclub training in October with Greg and entered the Kapi-Mana Hot Shots Novice Tournament in February. They have won 5 of their 6 games. We are incredibly proud of them. Their serving, line calling, sportsmanship and looooong rallies have kept everyone entertained and enjoying the wonderful tennis they have put on display. So a huge congratulations to Michael, Fred, Fia, Hunter, Kyla and Finlay!

Today they received medals to celebrate a wonderful beginning to their interclub journey, and an extra special message from Artem Sitak, NZs #3 ranked tennis player. organised by Greg. Thank you so much Greg for arranging this super special treat.

We would like to thank Claire for taking on the team manager role, you have done an outstanding job. Thank you Noa for filling in when Claire was away, and to all of the parents for supporting your junior's tennis and cheering them on every week.

Enjoy the video of a 16 shot rally courtesy of Fred and Hunter!

Have an amazing Easter break and we can't wait for next season!

What an incredible end to a fabulous season of Whānau Fridays! 🎾

It has been so much fun to see everybody make such awesome progress, shine on the court, make new friends, make us laugh and make us proud, wolf down the sausages every week and make your parents and grandparents run around picking up balls!

Watching you improve every week and give everything your best shot, smashing the balls, mastering the ball machine, keeping the coaches busy and on their toes and just generally having a good time is what makes Whānau Fridays so special.

Parents, grandparents and helpers - you have been amazing. From jumping on the BBQ (Dan you've been an absolute champion), coordinating timings for us, encouraging (and sometimes wrangling) the juniors, collecting balls, running the ball machine (Ross is a pro now!), buttering bread and supporting the coaches... from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! Without you, this format would not work. Whānau Fridays is something special because you are right there with us!

Greg - coach extraordinaire! The passion and dedication to our juniors is something remarkable. Time for a well earned rest!!!! We are so lucky to have you.

Gabe, Easton, Nadia and Jesse - our new junior coaches. Thank you for your willingness to achieve the qualification, jump on court and give it a go. You have all grown in your coaching abilities this season and it's been awesome to have your support. We'd love to have you back again next season.

I tried to grab as many pics as possible. Hopefully I've got everyone covered!

Enjoy a well earned Easter break and hopefully we'll see you back next season!

Hi Whanau Friday Juniors!

It looks like we may be expecting rain on Friday afternoon which is our final session for the season and also our prizegiving. We are going ahead even if it is raining. If we cannot get out on the courts because of rain, we will do our prizegiving in the club rooms with an afternoon tea, so we are looking forward to seeing you there and don't forget your bunny ears and/or Easter accessories!!

See you then!

Happy Friday everyone!

We are on the hunt for new committee members. Whether you are a senior member or a junior parent, we need to grow the logistical support of our wonderful little club. There is so much you can offer and we really do need to expand our small committee to ensure our club continues to thrive.

Roles are varied. Even if you have only a small amount of time you can offer, we want you to come along on Wednesday 11th at 7.30pm to the club rooms. We'll provide supper.

There are large roles available, but you could undertake a small role as well, such as supporting the running of Whanau Fridays, sharing in the planning and setting up of club events, processing enrolments, marketing the club, applying for grants etc. We'd love to see you on Wednesday and explore how you might be able to help our club continue to improve and grow.

Please do consider helping if only in a small way, so that we can carry on with this incredible game and offer the best community tennis possible.

You can send me a message here on Facebook if you would like to come.

Hopefully we will see you on Wednesday

🎾🎾🎾 INTERCLUB RESULTS ROUND 3: 🎾🎾🎾

We have had a very busy few weeks at the club - storm damaged fences closed the courts for a day, but the council were onto it pretty quickly and had everything fixed and ready to go by Wednesday last week. Thank you so much to Porirua City Council. Although we are currently down a windbreak, we'll get that fixed as soon as possible.

🏆🏆🏆CONGRATULATIONS to our new Novice Hot Shots Junior Interclub team, Ngāti Toa Storm! Due to a bye in week 1, then no matches on Waitangi weekend, then a bad weather cancellation last weekend, FINALLY, they got to play on Sunday morning...... and they WON! 3-3 against the Otaki Hurricanes, but they won 32-28 on a games count back. Congrats to Kyla, Michael, Finlay, Fred and Fia for their excellent first round. We have a photo of four of them below. We're looking forward to seeing Hunter play this week too. Thank you to Noa for managing them for their first matches.

🏆🏆🏆Ngāti Toa Orcas, our A-Grade Junior Interclub team, won 5-1 against Paraparaumu Beach Rallyers, a superb result. Congrats to Emily, Nadia, Gabe and Seb for an excellent morning of tennis. 43 games to 13! We are really proud of you. Thank you to Andrew for managing them on Saturday.

🏆🏆🏆And our men's M4 team won 4-2 against Churton Park, a wonderful display of tennis which is absolutely awesome to watch, some really hard fought matches and a win that has the team 4th on the table out of 8 teams. Saturday morning gave us excellent tennis from Sean, Tony, Duncan, Declan and Jesse. Why not pop down and check them out this Saturday morning; matches begin at 8.30am.

Don't forget it's Club Night tomorrow - seniors, if you haven't been down for a while, come on down and give the regulars a run for their money!
