A club wide email has gone out yesterday asking for playing shirts to be returned. To those that have returned their kit already thank you, the email was sent club wide so rest assured if you have returned your shirt you have been marked off and no invoice will be issued to you. The email was a final reminder to if you have Western Suburbs shirts at home it must be returned. An immense amount of the administrators time is spent chasing people to return their gear so please help by returning any outstanding gear promptly by mail to P.O.Box 58068 or leave at the front door of the administrators house at 64 Samwell Drive Whitby.
Thank you.

COVID-19 ALERT LEVEL 4 UPDATE |

Due to the government decision to move our region into Covid-19 Alert Level 4 until at least 11.59pm on Friday, Capital Football has made the following decisions:

- As per Sport New Zealand’s Alert Level 4 guidelines, all football-related activities, including team trainings, are unable to go ahead at Alert Level 4. You can train at home or outdoor places, but only with those in your bubble.
- All Capital Football senior and youth football is postponed this weekend, with a decision on what games can be played at a later date to be made once Capital Football has had a chance to liaise with the relevant councils around ground availability.
- New Zealand Football are yet to make a call on the Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup, as well as the Central League (an NZF-run competition) fixture between North Wellington and Wainuiomata, for this weekend, but they are expected to provide an update on Wednesday, August 18.
-All junior football is cancelled this weekend.
-All futsal is cancelled tonight, August 17, with a decision to be made on next Tuesday’s games by Monday, August 23.
-The Girls with Goals festival on Sunday, August 22 is cancelled.

Hey all,

Just an update based on the latest information regarding the new Covid level in Wellington.

With going into Covid level 2, football games and training will continue with a couple of tweaks:

1) 100 person gathering limit – we are restricted to a maximum of 100 on a field so the below will apply during level 2:
a. For training days – please drop off and pick up your kids from your car to avoid congestion onto and off the field. Please be extra vigilant with watching out for kids in the car park.
b. For game day – because we are usually playing on pitches with multiple fields (i.e. up to four teams, parents, coaches and supporters on one pitch), we are asking that only one parent comes to support until we leave Covid level 2

2) Contact tracing – While there is technically a MOH QR code on fields, in practice most kids don’t bring their phones with them, forget to scan and/or the QR code location creates big congregations and bottle necks of people….which defeats the purpose of the tracing. Our grade will continue to track attendance and absences using the Heja app for all trainings and games. The coach will scan the MOH QR code on the field on behalf of the team and parents. Please make sure that you note your attendance in Heja.

3) Physical distancing – Yes this is pretty difficult when trying to play a game of football (although it does encourage passing! 😊), but please maintain social distancing off the field. In addition, we will forgo the usual end of game cheer and handshakes until after level 2 finishes.

4) Sickness – As should be the case throughout the season, if your footballer is sick please keep them at home.

The above tweaks will allow us to continue with training and playing football so your assistance appreciated.
