Kākāriki Stables Holiday Programme Update 🐎
We’re all set to go ahead this Monday as planned!

Good afternoon everyone,

It’s a beautiful day across the region for us, but we are feeling for our neighbours to the north as Cyclone Vaianu makes itself known.

- The cyclone is now tracking further east than expected, which lessens the chance of impacts to our region. See the link below for more details: https://www.metservice.com/warnings/tropical-cyclone-activity

Continue to expect strong winds, heavy rain and swells from Sunday mid-morning/afternoon to Monday morning, especially along the east coast and eastern hills of the Wairarapa.

Rivers and streams in Kāpiti, Hutt and Wairarapa may also be affected by the heavy rain warning for the Tararua range.

- We are monitoring any impacts for Greater Wellington closely with councils and partner agencies and will be sharing posts if relevant. The pinned post at the top of our page will have the latest watches and warnings.

- At this stage, we aren’t expecting to see the severe impacts regions to the north of us will, but councils and WREMO have extra people on duty over the weekend just in case and we are working together to keep a close eye on things.

Preparing for severe weather:
👉Secure any outdoor items like wheelie bins, trampolines, and outdoor furniture that could blow around.
👉With the kids on holiday, check they haven't left things lying around outside
👉Clear leaves out of gutters and away from drains - this will help reduce potential flooding if there's rain
👉Check on any family, friends, or neighbours who might need a hand securing items

*PRICE CHANGES*

Hi everyone - just to address this as there have been a few questions recently.

You don’t even have to look at the news to know that times are tough at the moment. With the price of almost everything continuing to rise, we are all feeling the pressure, especially with the costs of our four-legged friends (who would have thought horses were so expensive?!).

However, we are all in the same boat, and we have decided that we will not be raising our prices at this stage.

We have been fortunate to keep our prices unchanged since 2024, but at some point down the track we may need to review this. Please know there will always be clear communication and plenty of notice. It is never a decision we make lightly or out of convenience.

We are incredibly grateful for the kindness, loyalty, and investment you make in allowing your children to spend time with our amazing horses.

To some, horses may seem like a frivolous expense, particularly in these turbulent times, but I have certainly found myself that horses, friends, and a bit of fresh air can make life feel a whole lot better.

After a wild and stormy “summer,” we’re ready for some crisp autumn days, fresh air, and time in the saddle. Join us these April School Holidays at Kākāriki Riding School for fun-filled riding days designed to build confidence, skills, and big smiles.

✨ Ages 7+ | Beginners & Intermediates
Programme caters for beginners through to riders confidently cantering independently.
🏇 Each day includes:
2 Riding Sessions:
• Ride 1 – Lesson or Trek (based on ability)
• Ride 2 – Mounted Games or Trek
Horse care (grooming, tacking up, un-tacking)
Confidence & team building through fun and play
💰 Cost: $115 per child, per day
Includes morning tea & lunch.

Hi Team, we are still facing an issue with power and reception, we will be in touch asap but replies will be even slower than usual. Hoping power is on tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Just a heads-up that sections of Transmission Gully will be closed this weekend, so you may need to plan your trip accordingly.

SH1 PAEKĀKĀRIKI TO LINDEN - ROADWORKS, FRI 7 – MON 17 NOV

Plan ahead as the upcoming roadworks on Transmission Gully may affect your journey:
• Southbound LANE CLOSURE between north of the Waitangirua interchange and north of the State Highway 58 interchange from Friday 7 November to 10am on Friday 14 November
• Northbound CLOSURE between Linden and Pāuatahanui interchange on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 November, 9pm-4:30am each night. Northbound road users to detour via SH59
• Southbound CLOSURE from 10am on Friday 14 November to 4:30am on Monday 17 November between Linden and Paekākāriki (Transmission Gully). Southbound road users to detour via SH59
• Northbound LANE CLOSURE with temporary speed restrictions in place from 10am on Friday 14 November to 4:30am on Monday 17 November between Paekākāriki and Linden (Transmission Gully).
