Hickory Golf Championship

The Royal Wellington 'Hickory Golf Championship' will be held on Saturday 23 July 2022. The event will be played over 18 holes on our Terrace course and is open to members, guests and visitors and we invite you to play.

Below you’ll find an outline of the day. Your entry includes breakfast, lunch, green fees, and prizes. Drinks after golf are at your own cost. Payment can be made in the golf shop for those who haven’t pre-paid.

It should be a lot of fun!

Timetable

9:00am – Participants start to arrive (Coffee & Bacon Baps served – 19th)

9:30am – Groups drawn

10:00am – Play begins (first 9 holes)

11:30am – 12pm – First 9 complete

12:15pm – Lunch served
2:00pm – Play begins (second 9 holes)

3:45pm – 4pm – Play complete

4:30pm – Finger food (Drinks at own cost)

4:45pm – Prize giving

5pm – Formalities complete (Bar still open).

Open to members, guests and visitors.

Field limited to 48 entries.

Prizes for best Gross & Nett medal.

Hickory equipment may be original or modern. New golf balls allowed. You must have your own equipment (no sharing allowed).

Entry fee is $90 per person all inclusive as per above.

2022 Australasian Hickory Cup to be played remotely due to Covid.
Course to be played, TBA.
Great opportunity for everyone to play another hickory round.
Date to be confirmed either late April or May.
Enter details to be released soon.
Tournament will be stableford, singles and team of 4.

Bit of prep happening for NZ Hickory Championship @ Christchurch Golf Club in March.
New grip done on Spoon.
Next up regripping of playing irons.

Thanks to Royal Wellington Golf Club for putting on another great day of Hickory golf.
Fantastic day of golf, excellent food and wine.

Royal Wellington are playing there Hickory Open on Sunday 30th 2021. It is a great day, includes a great sit down lunch between each 9 .

The Hickory Cup 2021
The team in Australia have been working to get this up and running again after a Covid break in 2020.
Angelique and I went to play in it in 2019.
This year it is modified to include internationals using British Golf Collectors Society Handicap coversion rules. I will upload a copy of this rule soon.
In the past this tournament has been 12 holes, this year it will be 18 holes on any course anywhere in the world.
Use only hickory clubs any ball of your choice and period clothing where possible but not compulsory.
Teams of 3 ideally but will use teams of 2 if we have to.
All players must have an offical golf handicap to enter and be eligible for prizes. Have a look at the attached pictures for more details on dates to hand in score cards.
Another option is I could receive all New Zealand cards and send at the end of April to Australia.
Let me know via Pm if you are interested and I will speak with Peter about doing one entry payment for all kiwis that would like to enter.
Entry is $15.00 Aus.
For the wellington lads Im looking at booking a tee time @ Miramar Golf club if we have enough interest.

Been quite in hickory world of New Zealand of late.
I have just had this sent thru from our Australian friends.

"Hi Shane. We are playing the Australasian 12 Hole Hickory Cup remotely in several countries and States this year in order to have some other locations should covid again hit Victoria. It can be played up to April 30th and scores emailed by 4pm EST".

I will be speaking to Peter in Autralia this week, so will post more details once I know more.
