Plimmerton Sailing Academy The Plimmerton Sailing Academy has recently been established to give junior sailing a fresh start and a new identity in the Plimmerton region.

"The Plimmerton Sailing Academy is dedicated to fostering a love for sailing among children, teenagers, and adults, aiming to increase participation in the sport." The aim of the academy is to introduce children, teenagers and adults to the sport of sailing, the opportunity to be part of building a vibrant boating club, and to develop young sailors for regional and national competition. It is also

our goal to provide an environment where individuals can enjoy themselves on and off the water safely, interact at a social level and challenge themselves both physically and mentally. Some of New Zealand’s top sailors have come from sailing in our local waters as children and have been past members of the boating club. Currently we have 30 sailors. Sailing is a fantastic sport and many of the situations that children will learn to deal with on the water will give them the skills and confidence to apply off the water in real life day to day challenges.
