Congratulations to our Year 6 Storm who went undefeated in the Sunday league this season! This is an amazing achievement against some great opposition and all the boys should be very proud. The team finished the season playing on grass and were dominant with the ball 🏏 taking yet another win. The kids and parents culture has been brilliant all year 👏

A special award was given at the close of play to Jeremy Burrows (Jezza) who has led the team, developed a great culture and spent many years coaching, managing and as chairperson of the club. Jezza was awarded coach of the year - presented by our Junior Convenor Paul Kerr.

Many of the team and Porirua City Junior Cricket Club club mates ended the day watching the Blackcaps v Cricket South Africa Stadium topping off Saturday and Sunday cricket matches!

This afternoon, the Year 5 PCJCC Hawkes Bay team faced the Wellington Collegians Junior Cricket Club in a rescheduled match that had been previously cancelled in Hawkes Bay. The weather was splendid, and our Year 5 players delivered an impressive performance, culminating in a decisive victory that resulted in an even record of one win each between the two teams. We extend our gratitude for the game and the sportsmanship exhibited throughout. We are immensely proud of our team, who have made significant progress since many of them encountered their first hard cricket ball last year.

Fantastic to get some cricket in today with the rain overnight. The Yr 6 Pacers played Onslow Junior Cricket Club - a team with fantastic attitudes and excellent sportsmanship. The Pacers had one of their best bowling and fielding performances taking 16 wickets and then batting superbly to win the game. It was a game full of action!

The annual Super Sixes was planned today at Ian Galloway. Unfortunately our Yr 6 and Yr 7 teams only managed one game before the rain put a stop to the day.

Both teams played their North City Cricket Club counterparts and both came away with a win. The Yr 7 successfully defended 162 to win a nailbiter by 5 runs and the Yr 6s bowled North City out in 5 overs winning comprehensively.

Fingers crossed a new date emerges to finalise the comp - this morning was a lot of fun 🏏

Year 5 Vulcans are still recovering from a nail bitter on the weekend. North City Cricket Club needed 4 off the last ball to win. The batters run one with a direct hit from the fielder. Close call but the Umpire says not out. Meanwhile the ball has ricocheted off the wicket. Quick thinking and the batters kept running. Fielder picks up the ball and throws it at the wickets but misses and the overthrow allows the batters to run 4 for the win! That’s cricket for you! Well done both teams on such an edge of the seat game 😬

The Porirua Y6 Storm played North City Cricket Club today at Linden Park. We won the toss and elected to bat, compiling 253 runs with Angus Maitland top scoring with 55*. All the boys chipped in and kept the run rate moving from the start with some positive cricket and power hitting.

The lads came out strong, bowling accurately, taking some good catches and a couple of tidy run outs. Their opener batted well but the boys persevered with line and length. Angus led the way for the bowlers picking up 3 for 9, eventually bowling North City out for 123.

Great day out and a game played with fantastic spirit 🏏
