The Final round for the 2026 SOO series is hosted at Te Whiti Park, Waiwhetu this weekend, Sunday 23rd August.

*There is no postponement of Game 2, which means this weekend will be the conclusion of the series and the winners will be best from 8 games.

We look forward to closing off the league season and celebrating the lessons and wins!!!

A few gentle reminders that this is NOT the NRL, Coaching staff and officials are volunteers, Respect and kindness goes a long way, ALL playing fields are SMOKE, V**E, ALCOHOL AND HOHA FREE!!

STATE OF ORIGIN — 2026 SERIES

Game 2 SOO showdown between Hutt Valley and Western Bays will be hosted at Onepoto Park, Titahi Bay Porirua.

Round 1 kicks off with the U11 & U13 Girls Grades, 9am.

A quick reminder that this is children’s footy, not the NRL.
Our referees, coaching staff, and officials are volunteers who give their time so our tamariki can play the game they love.

Please model positive behaviour, show respect, and help create a safe, fun environment for everyone.

If you need to v**e or smoke, please head well away from the fields.
The sidelines are SMOKE‑FREE, V**E‑FREE, ALCOHOL‑FREE and HOHA‑FREE.
We appreciate you in advance for being absolutely amazing and keeping the League space a place our kids can be proud of.

STATE OF ORIGIN — 2026 SERIES

All three games of this year’s SOO showdown between Hutt Valley and Western Bays will be hosted at Naenae Park, home of the Randwick Kingfishers.

Game 1 kicks off tomorrow with the U11 & U12 Grades — Sunday 9 August at 9am.

The U16 Boys Grand Final will also be played tomorrow at 10am on Field 1. Come down and support the next generation of athletes as they battle it out on the big stage.

The Kitchen will be open all day with delicious hot kai and treats to keep you fuelled. 😋

Thank you to all those who trialled on Sunday.

120+ trialists across all 4 teams made selections very difficult for coaching staff. HVRL are proud to announce the 4 teams who will represent Te Awakairangi/Hutt Valley for the upcoming 2026 series vs Western Bays.

We celebrate your efforts and have faith that you will do Te Awakairangi proud.

A massive thank you to our amazing trial facilitators, selectors, admin team, coaches, and volunteers who made today's trials such a success. Your time, dedication, and hard work are what make opportunities like this possible, and we truly appreciate everything you do. 🫶

🎉 Congratulations to every single trialist who stepped onto the field today! Thank you for giving it your all, backing yourselves, and showcasing your skills. We loved seeing the talent, determination, and passion on display across all grades. You should all be incredibly proud of your efforts!

Now comes the tough part... our selectors and coaches have the challenging task of finalising the squads that will represent HVRL as we prepare to take on Western Bays! 💪💚💛

Our coaching staff will be meeting to confirm selections, and successful players will be contacted within the next 48 hours.
Squads will be officially announced on our page.

Date: Sunday 19th July 2026
Time: 9:30am-5pm
Venue: McEwan Park, Petone

*Updated times
10:00am-12:00pm: U11 Mixed - (Born 2016/2015)
12:30pm-2:30pm: U12 Mixed - (Born 2014-2015)
3:00pm-5:00pm: U13 Boys & Girls - (Born 2014-2013)

*Please arrive half an hour ahead of trial start times to complete the sign in & registration process at the admin tent.

-All tamariki must trial for the correct age grade.
-Tamariki will only be considered for 1 grade.
-All tamariki trialing must be registered with an associated WRL club for the 2026 season.

Your child will need the following:
-Sneakers & Boots
-Mouthguard (NO MOUTHGUARD NO PLAY)
-Water bottle
-Any protective wear required

This is a trial and the expectation is you turn up on time with the correct equipment ready to put your best foot forward!!!
