Our first overnight Hut Trip of the year! Come and join us in the Kaimai ranges as we tackle Te Rereatukahia Hut on an advanced 9km traverse across the ranges. We are looking to be walking for about 6 hours, possibly in the dark, so adherence to the gear list and a good level of fitness will be crucial.

AUT Offgrid Presents: O-Week Trip #2 Duder Regional Park!

We’re back for a favourite day walk of ours at Duder Regional Park! Come soak up the beauty of the Pohutukawa Coast with us on one of Tamaki Makaurau’s best day walks. On Saturday the 2nd of August, we’ll be tackling the Duder Regional Park Loop which is 6.3km and will take ~2 hours to complete. It is a beginner-friendly track so fitness wise all you gotta have is a good attitude :)

AUT Offgrid Presents: O-Week Trip #1 Omanawanui!

We are heading back to the wonderful Waitakere Ranges to complete an epic coastal walk near Huia. We will start at the Omanawanui carpark and complete an out-and-back track passing over the top of Omanawanui, with 360-degree views. The track is moderately challenging and is well-maintained. It is a steep track with lots of stairs so keep this and your own fitness level in mind and let us know if you have any concerns. Length: 7.7km, Elevation gain: 347m.

End of Year Trip Highlights!

What. A. Trip! Our crew started off with a night at the beautiful Kai Iwi Lakes campground with crystal clear water and a beautiful sunset! We then headed off to Ahipara and soaked in some rays while hanging out at a BBQ! Had a cheeky visit to the Te P**i Sand dunes with a lil off-roading on the side too and caught Cape Reinga at sunset which made for some life changing views 😍. Our last spot had us in the picturesque Taputaputa bay where the bugs caught us lacking a lil bit but at that point nothing could stop the good vibes as we thanked the far far north for an amazing trip! This one belongs in the Offgrid history books people!

Come and spend a day with us at Tāpapakanga Regional Park on Sunday 21st December! This is a scenic and relaxing coastal walk that is approximately 5.7 km out and back, taking around 1.5–2 hours to complete at a comfortable pace. It’s the perfect summer adventure if you’re wanting to unwind after a busy year or simply escape the city and enjoy some peaceful time in nature!

Pirongia Highlights!

A small group of us took on the challenge of Mount Pirongia and let me tell you, she was tricky! Rock climbing, tree roots all over the place and mud as far as the eye could see were just some of the things we came across during this tramp! We had a blast navigating through the undulating mountain range as we worked our way up to the summit and were definitely relieved once we reached the hut 😮‍💨

Kia Ora OffGrid Whānau! on Friday 19th September - Saturday 20th September we’ll be taking on Duke’s nose / Lane Cove Hut! The hut is located in an idyllic landscape only a few steps from the water. The area has spectacular rock formations and fine regenerating coastal forest. The hut provides an excellent base for exploring the Whangaroa area. You can enjoy a refreshing swim as it is just a few steps away from the hut or simply relax on the deck. This hut accommodates 16 people so sign up now as it is a “first come first serve”!
