To those who take the time to read this, it will fill your heart with warm fuzzys' Enjoy xo
This piece of beautiful (non Ai) writing is for all the incredible incredible Grandparents out there.
' We see you'
It’s Saturday morning. Voices fill the air from every corner of the pool. Babies and toddlers
bounce up and down on their noodle animals, singing along with their adults. The little
Seahorses join hands for a fun round of Ring around the rosies, while the Octopus class
makes waves and splashes as they kick their way towards the other end of the pool.
As we move through the rhythm of the morning, I spot her sitting on the far side of the pool, attentively watching her granddaughter practise her breaststroke kick. She's there every
Saturday - summer, autumn, winter, and spring. But today, I truly saw her.
I saw my own grandma cheering me on, carving time out just for me. Her presence carried
me through many storms, even long after she had passed away.
Looking at this young swimmer’s grandma, I saw the commitment, the patience, the silent
encouragement from the poolside, I saw the love that simply shows up.
And I realised that while we often celebrate the achievements of our young swimmers, and
rightfully acknowledge the amazing parents in our KLTS community, we don't always stop to
acknowledge the grandparents who quietly help make those achievements possible.
By bringing their grandchildren to lessons, cheering from the sidelines, and making swimming a
priority, they are helping to give their moko a life-saving skill.
We love to see generations coming together around and in the pool. We have quite a few
grandparents joining their moko in our Diaper Dolphin classes.
They sing together, blow
bubbles together, they’re making memories that will last a lifetime. We are privileged
witnesses to the beautiful bond and trust between them.
Today we want to dedicate this post to all the grandparents in our Kapiti learn to swim whānau.
Your calm, reassuring presence gives our young swimmers the confidence to feel safe, loved, and secure in the water.
To all our Kapiti learn to swim Granddads, Nanas, Poppas, and Grandmas: thank you for gifting your moko the life-saving skill of swimming.
We see you.
We appreciate you.
And we are so grateful for you.
