Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet Kozo Kuniba Sensei, headmaster of Motobuha Sh*to-ryu Kunibakai International.

His grandfather, Kosei Kuniba Sensei, moved from Okinawa to Osaka together with Kenwa Mabuni Sensei (founder of Shinto-ryu karate) to help spread karate to mainland Japan.

Kuniba Sensei shared many fascinating stories about his grandfather, his father, and many other famous karate masters. In one story, he mentioned that his grandfather had told him that Chojun Miyagi Sensei was truly a great master. It was a wonderful and memorable time.
